  • Bryan,

How do feel our OL recruiting is going and will end up? I hate to be negative but it feels like we are starting to look at back up options. I hope I am wrong. I hope Latu is am impact player.

    Thanks Bryan!

I don't think we'll have a clear picture until mid to late January. Getting Avery Young in this weekend was big and I expect they'll bring in several national OL prospects for the weekend of the Iron Bowl.

Auburn plans to take 5-6 total offensive linemen, probably 6. I actually think it would be a good move if they used one of those spots on a 6-5, 260-pound athletic kid who may be undersized now but has the potential to develop after a couple of years.

  • Bryan, If I am not mistaken I spoke with Vadal Alexander today around 3pm at all the blow up games and such the kids play.

while i agree that OL recruiting is key to this years class, i feel it would be hard to take that undersized lineman that you speak of, considering the other prospects we are in on.

If it comes close to NSD, and it's not looking good for landing a few of the bigger propsects on the board at other positions, im all for that, but if we were to take 4 more OL, including a "project," that would leave 6 spots to fill.

I believe we will land one of (Joshua Garnett, Lacy Westbrook, Avery Young), but heck, we aren't in great shape for any of those and might miss on all of them. That would be very dissapointing to take 4 projects at OL.

those 6 remaining spots could go to: Javy Mitchell, Kwon Alexander, Deon Bush, Leonard Williams, stefon diggs, and 1 of (channing ward, francis kallon, jordan jenkins)

that means if we took 6 OL, it would fill a spot that could go to a player like Ronald Darby, Noor Davis, Eddie Goldman, or DGB.

I guess it all depends on how things start to shape up with these prospects as it gets closer and closer to NSD. It will be interesting to see how it shapes up considering close to all of the prospects, excluding Javy Mitchell, are waiting until the all-american games or NSD to decide.

They most likely won't take both Kallon and L WIlliams because both likely project as SDE or DT. They need a pass-rushing end for one of those spots -- Jenkins, Ward, Autry, ???. I expect Auburn to take just one more DB and two more WR's and 1-2 more LB's depending on what happens with Alexander.

If you had to name the one DB that we sign, who would it be? Bush?

    Thank you Bryan,

In your opinion, Is Latu the kind of player that can come in and have immediate impact?

Better open up 1 more spot. Hutchersons ACT got thrown out and there's about 0% chance he'll score an 18. Not flaming - it's the truth.

If his ACT score got flagged, he just has to make the same or similar score again. He has many opportunities left to prepare for and re-take the test.

I'll check on his status when I get a chance and pass along the info.

  • Bryan. I have to say this year's offensive line has been a hugh problem. Duh! Right?
Either they are young and inexperienced (understandable); they lack physicality; and/or never developed into the CGM system. I also expected more leadership from the infusion of the few upperclassmen we had left on the roster. I assume these guys fell into this catagory known as PROJECTS. Did we take chances on these projects and get burned?

I still think the future looks bright. Was not Auburn's last two offensive line recruiting classes considered the best in the country? I know the loss of Shawn Coleman hurt, but for the immediate future we should be strong in this area. Understanding the need to have plenty of OLmen; however, why should we take less of a recruit with the new rule of 25? Honestly would not plucking a few JUCOs be a better stratagy down the line?

  • Looking forward to hear more about Channing Ward. I think he could be a impact recruit if we can bring him in.
