Recruiting ...What are the odds?

Find out where Auburn stand with its remaining top targets including five-star OT Cyrus Kouandjio.

  • Hey Bryan, How many more commits can we take for this years class?
    Thanks

  • Bryan, thanks for all you do. But I thought you said Auburn wasn't recruiting anymore defensive ends after Sigler and that they ended their recruitment with Drew accordingly. So why are we recruiting more ends?

...And because Auburn men and women believe in these things, I believe in Auburn and love it. War Eagle, Baby!!

  • thats simple. its because there was truth to drew recruiting players to uga and the writing was on the wall that he was already a silent to uga. so auburn stopped recruiting drew. if you have seen the lack of depth on the line for next year you will know that we most definetly arent done recruiting dl players and would sign another dl player if we could.

Auburn will sign between 25-28 on Signing Day depending on how things go the next five days.

    Things change in recruiting. ;-)

That was just as much about Auburn not wanting to be a part of his shenanigans over the last couple of days.

  • Bryan, posted this question on another thread, but let me try here: Would it be possible for you to share the info about the Official Visits (who accompanies the recruit, who the player host is) as you've done a few times before...? Especially interested in the info for Kouandjio. Thanks much.

I was hoping to be able to do that again but couldn't get all the info. I'll ask them about it Sunday. I know Kouandjio and Richardson are coming by themselves. The others with one or more family member.

  • Please tell the family at your home that we send up prayers for their blessings as well. they miss you ,I'm sure, while you are out serving us at AU. Much thanks to you all!

  • Great work Bryan, Thanks for the update.
You and the staff deserve a break, just not at the same time. Ha-ha.
We addicts would need sedatives if all of you were gone for a week.

Isn't that a bad sign when the relatives don't accompany the recruit? That's good news then about Wright, and Fanning, I guess, but not so good for CK (odds are still for the bammers) and AR (who is likely a UT or UGA signee). Do you think?

In any event, I'd very closely watch both AR and LF while visiting us for signs of recruiting our other recruits to our opponents.

I was thinking that same thing. No family member doesn't seem like a good sign. Bryan? What do you think? You've seen a lot of kids come and go. Do you recall many kids visiting a school days before signing day and then signing with the parents never having set foot on the campus?

I think it's definitely better to have the family here but in Kouandjio's case, the Auburn coaches have spent considerable time getting to know his family on in-home visits. Richardson's father came down with him to a game this fall but was too sick to make it this weekend.

    Bryan Matthews

  • Bryan, some people on these message boards imply that Fanning blames others (e.g. coaches) for his own problems. They also accuse him of having a poor work ethic. Do you think that these complaints are valid?

    recurverover

  • Haven't been interested in signing Fanning in a long while. Even though he's got the frame for football, he strikes me as a slacker...not a fit for this program. Bryan, have I misread this lad?

  • Bryan,
Great work as always. Thanks for the info. Any word on Amer Abadullah? Thought he'd be a nice pick up and it seems that Malzahn was hot to get him.
Thanks again for all of your work!

With no signee from this class that can count against last year's total, how do we get to 25? I have heard that Mason and Fulse have grade issues, but are close. Fanning is a sign and place more than likely. That means we may be faced with a grey shirt possibility. Who is that?

I don't know about y'all, but when I was his age I would have probably wanted to take my official visit alone as well. If they've already seen Auburn and are happy with it, then I'm sure it's nice for him to be able have this experience without them over his shoulder the whole time.

Actually that brings up a question. Bryan, do the parents have a completely different experience on official visits than their son? Is it like Camp War Eagle where the parents have a separate set of things they go through?

I know you asked BM but...

I think he cancelled his AU visit after the Nebraska coaches came to visit him...seems like Bryan covered this in an article within the last 72 Hrs or so. Maybe I read that someplace else. Anyway, it looks like he is comfortable with his Nebraska decision

Don't know who a potential grayshirt candidate is but Auburn will have a plan going into Signing Day and any player affected will know his situation ahead of time.
