  • I'm excited to see how this class will end. The biggest question mark will be that next RB who we can snag. Bryan who do you think we have the best shot at?

    JCoo09

  • Not intending criticisn for wondering who is the best shot. But, the best that Chizik and staff can do is what the recruiting effort has received and will get. Boy, my opinion only, but that's a sea change from the recent past. Thanks to Coach Chizik for making the effort, and to AUC for reporting it.

  • BM - Based on our needs, let's say we get none of the guys you mentioned as top targets ( I believe we will get many of them) what are some names we do not hear of as often that we might hear on signing day. Also, in a case like Yeldon where we feel we have met our needs at that position, how much contact do we maintain with the other targets at that position?

  • I'm thinking if the o-line gets as good as I think they will with the core of dismukes, robinson, and westerman then our quarterback and running back situation should be golden. With mosely, kiehl frazier, and zeke pike one of those three are going to be huge at auburn as long as they have time to throw. There is a solid foundation at every position on this team except for maybe linebacker, but I see that position getting better in a hurry with frost being healthy and I think jake holland is going to be special because he reminds me of josh bynes playing with so much heart. Its a great time to be an auburn tiger as we are about to see a deep and talented team for years to come like no other in auburn history. I'll have to admit I was among the skeptical when coach gene chizik was hired but everyday that passes I believe more and more in the man. He's said since he's been here that he has a plan and so far the plan has worked, I can't wait to see where this plan takes our program. Before its all over the infamous nick saban won't be able to hold gene chizik's jockstrap! In fact I hear there's a deal underway between saban and coach chizik that would allow coach chizik to use space at saban's home to store all of the sec championship and bcs championship trophies he's going to win for us. WAR EAGLE!

  • Jenkins and Diggs are most wanted on my list and would have an instant impact. Young,Diamond and Shuler for OL, not interested in Kozan
Ward would be a great get!

  • If we finish with 7 out of our Top 9 prospects, then we will finish with a Top 5 Recruiting Class for the third year in a row. With having to hire two new coordinators through a lengthy evaluation process this year- a Top 5 class will be quite an achievement. It will also set Auburn up for years to come. We have NEVER recruited this well for this long. Dye got some great classes in the early and Mid 80's but a lot of that was great evaluation and working them harder than anyone else. We taking our program to the next level. GREAT JOB CGC and Staff! A close with: Kwon Alexander, Diggs or Patterson at WR, Menelik Watson, Young, Diamond at OL, Jenkins or Goldman on the DL, Deon Bush at CB, Ronald Darby or Cyrus Jones - it might be difficult to get Darby from ND, one RB out of Gurley, Williams, Mather and Davis, that would equal a close of 4.11 stars with a three star in the mix. (Again I am counting on a 6or7 out of 9 close. We would finish well within the Top 5 Recruiting Classes in the country for 2012. If that happens, lookout, Auburn will be a dominate players for the next 5 years. CGC and staff can make this happen with a strong response to SPUAT, THE REC and other SEC schools hammering at us b/c of our coordinator situation. All that criticism will fall mute when CGC makes two VERY GOOD HIRES AT OC AND DC. Here's the strong response/close over the next 6 weeks: Win the Chick-Fil-A bowl, Hire an IMPACT DC by January 4th, Hire an IMPACT OC by January 11th, recruit positively about Auburn as we always do, and we will sign a Top 5 Recruiting class for the third year in a row! Recruiting is about how you finish! CGC and Staff are set to finish very strong as they will run unopposed the entire month of January by SPUAT with a full class. We only lose players to SPUAT and Thuga and we have won more of the important battles vs. THUGA due to Mark Richt's uncertain issues over the past few years. We are going to bring in some very talented young men into the Auburn Family this year! The next 6 weeks are going to be fun and very positive!

I won't be at Under Armour game but we'll have plenty of people there covering it. Not sure on Jenkins yet.

  • The final OC/DC and overall coaching staff being in place will, I feel, do more than anything else. Kids and their parents want and need to feel comfortable about and know their closest coaches. Right now, in truth, about all that is certain is Chizik. Players just do not get that close to their head coach. The Malzhan "label" was quite valuable to AU.

  • It would be awesome to have a dominant WR to play opposite Blake. A shutdown corner and an All-American linebacker would also help my feelings. One of these days, Alice. One of these days.

I think we have a dominant receiver on campus already. Also Williams looks really good to me. Louis as well.

Well said AUVTM! As well as coach chizik and his staff have done in recruiting the last couple years I don't think we are lacking a superstar at any position on the field. Its just a matter of giving these young guys a chance to develope and mature into their full potential

Most of the guys you haven't heard much of would probably be OL. Vandy commit Andrew Jelks, Miami commit Ereck Flowers, Kameron Davis from Northeast in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla,, Niu Sale from LA Harbor in Wilmington, Calif., Brandon Fanaika from Pleasant Grove (Utah) High and Joey O'Connor from Windsor (Colo.) High are some names to keep an eye on.

DeAndre Jasper from Jackson in Miami, Fla., could be a possibility at wide receiver or cornerback if needed. Francis Kallon, a Georgia Tech commit, remains an option at defensive line.

Auburn has stayed in touch with other running backs by mail and occasional phone calls.

  • Brian,
With the numbers breakdown of 1 DT and 1 DE are you counting Williams at DT and Ward or Jenkins at DE?
