Defeat doesn't finish a man - quit does. A man is not finished when he's defeated. He's finished when he quits. - Richard Nixon
I take the opposite approach, I don’t think you have to run out and schedule a press conference to deny allegations that can not be proven. I know some or most would disagree with this but I think we have addressed the situation all it deserves.
Maybe Pete Fiutak should get a gig as a University president or head coach of a major university. He seems to have all the answers. Just another hack trying to ride the coat-tails of a major story. Much like mr slimescum.
Grammar: The difference between knowing your sh*t and knowing you're sh*t.
He has a point. Auburn has been incredibly passive through the whole Cam thing and now the HBO thing. Can’t paint ourselves as a victim or paranoid. Up here in Nebraska Chiz's pure garbage quote and I wasn't contacted with the HBO rebuttal was panned on local sports radio so they are listening. I do think Auburn could do a better job of defending themselves. You can't disprove a negative, but you can say "you were disappointed that these former players made baseless allegations”…”won’t comment on individual allegations that lack specifics”…”Auburn runs a clean program and we stand by coaches past and present”- yada, yada instead of almost silence.
CTT should do the same.
Auburn's new motto: "Moving right along."
With all the things said about Auburn over the past few months, this HBO thing is just a blip on the radar. We are the poster children for bad press. One thing is certain however, people are talking about Auburn. Our name has been in the news every day since early last season. That isn't a bad thing from a marketing stand point. I realize that all us fanatic's want all the news to be positive but that's not gonna happen. I wish all this was about saving puppies and rainbows but lets face it, that's not what the news likes to show.
So, we can look at this one of two ways:
1) Everyone is out to get us and the media sucks.
2) It's not easy being number one and all this media attention sure brought us to the forefront of the football-sphere fast.
I'm a glass half full kinda guy but more over, people are gonna hate any number one team. That's the way it has always been....especially when your not considered an "elite" or "perennial" powerhouse . People are idiots and the media runs the circus.
All we can do at this point is wait for the principles to react. Pete knows this, what he wants is a knee jerk response so he'll have yet another column promote his agenda. What would be funny is seeing a similar situation with his sacred Boise,, then he'd cry but all the big guys cheat why shouldn't the little guys.
