Auburn would be fortunate to have him. He may be more of a gamble than Jimbo, but he probably also has more upside potential. Now, I think Petrino is a very good head coach, but he would be the ultimate gamble in the sense that you're gambling that he's changed and that his baggage doesn't kill recruiting (an area that already isn't his strength).

I had rather have a proven top head coach, but unless we get Stoops or maybe Jimbo, that's not going to happen for us. Personally, I had rather have the top assistant in the country who has learned "the Saban way" than a guy like the head coach of Cincy or Western Kentucky who has been a head coach. In my view, you either get someone who has proven they are very good at a top level or you go with a top assistant who is viewed as a can't miss.
