Question: Chizik's philosophy

  • Can someone catch me up to speed on the conventional wisdom of what's happened between Chizik and his assistants? Was the issue with Malzahn just about the tempo of the offense or was there more to it? On defense, did we basically run what Chizik wanted or did Chizik just meddle because Roof was ineffective? In general, did Chizik get more involved this year because of our problems or was he interfering with CGM and CTR before this season? I'm just interested to see if this is just his hands on philosophy or if he got more involved because he felt he had to. I just wonder if the losing lead to the staff issues or visa versa. Also, I keep hearing about how maybe CGC and Grimes weren't on the same page about red shirts and starters. Can anyone exlplain that? If other assistants leave, who is most likely to go? We need Lupercal, Trooper, Grimes, and Thigpen IMHO.

    So you throw a lot of stuff out there just to see if anything sticks. None of the things you say in your post is more than just conjecture.

    Chizik meddles?
    Chizik interferes?
    Chizik not on same page with Grimes.

  • No one can answer that question except Chizik and his staff. I doubt they are on this board.

  • I didn't come up with any of this. I've been reading all of this from others on here and on the other site. Phillip and JayG Tate seem to throw these things out too. I think Phillip mentioned yesterday that CGC has a reputation of getting in the coordinators business and he will need to change if we are to get proven coordinators. Am I wrong?
