I have said and still say that the measuring stick for athletic scholarships should be "full cost of attendance." This is already the financial aid standard for the rest of us, so why not make it that way for athletes. At Auburn, tuition and fees comes out to just short of $10,000 for one year. However, the full cost of tuition, including such things as books, room and board ( both of which we already give), transportation and personal expenses comes out to another $16,000/year. If I can receive financial aid up to the full amount, why can't they?
Performance stands out like a ton of diamonds. Nonperformance can always be explained away.

You can not, in my opinion, expect one group of the same people to act as judge, jury and executioner at the same time. Now we can add assumption of powers without due process. Things need to change and have since the early 1950s when the body became a de jure regulatory body.
