I have had MDS for 16 years and until recently it was just a chronic problem. Last month my blood counts all dropped requiring transfusions. After a bone marrow biopsy it turns out that the MDS transformed to a very aggressive form of leukemia called AML. I'm undergoing chemo. If it is successful In putting the AML into remission I will go to Vandy for a bone marrow transplant.
