Just found this interesting and thought I'd share for those that are not only Auburn fans but also college football fans.
Texas Tech doesn't have the best defense in the country, no question, but they do lead the nation in yards-per-game allowed at a measly 160 yards per game (24 yards per game better than No. 2 Florida State).
It helps to see why when you see TT has played New Mexico (#114 offense), Texas State (#75), and Northwestern State (#85 in FCS). But hey, there are plenty of other teams that have played three cupcakes too and they aren't No. 1, Texas Tech is.
160 yards after three games is pretty good no matter how you look at it, especially considering that Tech gave up a whopping 485 yards per game last year. The 160 per game is going to increase significantly, but Phil Steele has put some numbers to just how much he expects it to change.
He says that they will give up at least 400 yards in 8 of their next 9 games, and they'll give up over 500 in 6 of those games.
Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there as a little something for you to check out each week when you're perusing the various box scores. Claiming they'll give up over 500 yards 6 times is a pretty hefty claim. Should be mildly interesting to watch.
If he's right....Tuberville will likely be back on the market.
Texas State hasn't been the same since Kathy Ireland was their field goal kicker in the movie, "Necessary Roughness." I think their offense dropped off after that . . .
Very true...cupcake city. And he may be right on, I'm mostly curious to sit back and watch and see how close he is on his predictions. Giving up 500 yards in 6 of the last 9 games is quite a prediction.
I will say this....ole Tuberville probably feels like he's back in the SEC with the way his schedule plays out in the next several weeks....#16 Oklahoma, #9 West Virginia, @ #15 TCU, @ #7 Kansas State, #12 Texas, @ Oklahoma State, #25 Baylor.
Of those, I could see West Virginia, going over 500, but Kansas State, Texas, Oklahoma State, and Baylor are "maybe" at best.
Just a little something to watch as the year goes on.
So Phillip....if you see that happening, you think Tuberville is in the discussion for Arkansas, or will this failure at Tech override the success at Auburn?
