I am with you and were were told or "promised" Auburn would look for a proven head coach. So we are down to two guys with a total of 1 year? C'mon Jay, do you think Auburn people are just stupid or are you such a detriment to the search that most solid coaches won't talk to Auburn because you are the AD.

I think the latter.

Ol Jay just wanted to say he gave Bobby a chance but "it just didn't pan out." Trying to save face with the big money boosters. If we offer Smart and he takes it doesn't mean we will hurt bama chances at another title. If he takes the job he doesn't need to coach in the NCG. But if Smart turns us down and uses us for another raise could you imagine what bama fans will be saying about Auburn then. Talking about lil brother jokes. Also if Smart is hired there will be more mad butt hurt bama fans than happy Auburn fans.

Already happening at my worksite. A good friend and big time bammer says he would hate to lose Smart, but likes the fact he is going to Auburn. He says they will now have a man on the inside. He went on to say he wasn't so much worried about losing Smart from the coaching aspect because we all know who really runs the defense at AL.

I also believe this shows that there is a "mouthpiece" for this administration to get information out there, that they think will help their cause.

And now the information that is more relevant comes out from a reporter who is not tied to the universities needs. 15 minute interview, Petrino told to keep his mouth shut which he did and now everyone wonders how the information got out....hmmm I wonder.

If we end up with either Malzahn or Smart, do you see either coach keeping Trooper, Luper, VanGorder, etc.? I realize that with Malzahn already being a HC he has a staff, but I would think Smart might give some of those guys a chance. What are your thoughts on that?
