Perspective:Firing someone is a BIG deal

  • Just thought I'd throw this into the mix for some perspective.

It's easy to type a call for someone's job on a message board. Imagine yourself being called into the boss' office. Not so easy....especially if you're the type like I'm sure most on this board are that throw themselves into what they do with all of the heart and soul.

    I'm NOT calling anyone out.

Just wanted to remind all of us that this is a BIG deal with real life consequences for people including the HC and all of the way down. We're not just talking about one rich guy. We're talking about a big group of people, their careers and their families.

I think we're a little to giddy in our look to a hypothetical future. This is actually a sad thing. If it comes to the end of the Chizik era, this is failure that represents saying goodbye to some important members of the Auburn family-all good people, all our neighbors, and part of our community.

Anyway, this is a hard time for Auburn athletics.

  • I hire and fire and it is never a big decision to terminate any employee who is not performing to expecations and earning the money paid to them plain and simple and chiz has failed to perform up to expectations and should be terminated in my opinion!

Agree 100%. Some of our brethren hereon do not live in the real world. No one enjoys firing people, but leaders have to do what is best for the organization. The smartest executive I have ever worked with told me that he did not fire people, they fire themselves. It is easy not to do anything.

  • Firing a single mother with two teenage who makes 60k a year because she is not bringing value to the organization, now that's hard and I've had to do it in order to protect the company. Firing a guy who's made 7 million the last two year plus 2 million in 2010 plus bonuses for the natty and who will get one hell of a package walking out the door. Hell, that's easy!

How many of us get a $10 million dollar check if we get fired..... Someone please fire me for 10 million.... Please.....

Coaching at this level is a bit different than 99.9% of the jobs in the world.

I agree in part... Firing someone is a big deal. But they are all millionaires by now. Pretty sure their families will be fine.

Going 1-6 two years after winning the national championship is a big deal also. That has never been done in history...All college football history... Until Auburn University led by Gene Chizik pulled it off Saturday night by losing to Vanderbilt... This trash affects thousands and thousands of donors and die hard fans.

Facts are facts. It's time to move forward.
