I'm not going to even pretend what the process is in hiring a football coach at Auburn University help me understand something. It has been reported here and other places that Petrino is a leader, co-leader, top 3 candidate, etc for the HC position. FACT is that Petrino is not currently employed. It was minimum 4 days ago when CGC was let go. Why has nobody reached out to Petrino in any official copacity? If he is a top candidate it would take 10 minutes to pick up the phone and schedule an interview if he wanted it. I understand not contacting coaches that have games this weekend but why not go ahead and at least contact one of the top candidates that is not currently employed?
