Thanks PM for trying to soothe the masses. Maybe you provided us some modicum of reassurance. I'm really trying to be patient and I do understand about the bowl games and NFL stuff. Yet as a fan, it is unnerving after the scars of 2012 to just sit around powerless and wait for what ever is yet to happen. You are right though there is a level of anxiety now amongst us especially after getting beaten up this year and hated Bammer's continued domination. The hiring hiatus on the tails of 3 quick hires is worrisome to a number of folks, especially DC's rejection and several recent decommits and transfers. We fans are SO in need of good news - a star assistant coach and a few very nice commitments. A word from Tracey Rocker would be significant or the hiring of the Alabama WR coach.
But Phillip, it's just not the shocking season we just endured. It's also recent past history with coaching hires. I recall waiting for Gene Chizik to make a great splash with an OC, after hiring Van Gorder as DC, and kept hoping as it took ages that he was onto someone big in the NFL but needed to wait. After infernally waiting for so long, Loeffler from Temple was hired and I was just....flabbergasted. I felt like it was all a cover-up. I know Gus is a very good and conscientious coach, but I pray I am not going to have to endure any more Chizik moments when Gus announces the assistant coaches we have long been awaiting. I trust Gus and his staff.

Gonna be patient. And as always... WAR EAGLE!!!!
I second that.
We must stand behind Auburn and have hope. No money is due from the fans until March, 2013. We dont have a bowl game to plan for and we dont have to send Auburn any money for football until next year. Hopefully the wait is due to the NFL season and post season play in college football and once these seasons are completed we will see the hiring of football coaches pick up in a postive manner. If we all stay on the Gus Bus I trust the stops alone the way will be worth the wait.
Phillip and Coach Malzahn said...
"It's been almost two weeks since Malzahn was introduced as Auburn's 26th head coach. He said that night that he "would move quickly on hiring coordinators but would take his time on filling out the staff". He's been true to his word."
That's good enough for me....

"Then the fun stopped. No other coaches have been hired. Some prized recruits from a class that once seemed headed for being one of the nation's best have decided to go elsewhere. And no one outside of Malzahn's inner circle really knows where things stand."
You are so dead right -- after a dreadful season, for a few moments AU football was fun again -- then it stopped. Longing for better days, and they will come, just hard being patient.
All Auburn All the Time!
I agree that I've not had much fun as an Auburn fan in a long time. When did we last have a "big win"? In Arizona, I'm thinking.
It started for me when the young man was arrested one week before the first game. I had so much optimism before that news broke.
Then there were the other suspensions and losses and unexplainable roster moves. Then we knew this season was a bust so there was no motivation to even watch the other games.
We sure could use a little good news...

Attitude is Everything
Hiring coaches is not a spectator sport. It's bigger than that and GM has been hired to find those coaches. I know I don't like for parents to tell me how to teach their children so I will not tell GM how to run his football team. I have a feeling he knows what he is doing.
Factoring in the attrition we have had the last 4 years losing recruits now or after they sign is a moot point. I want to believe Gus will recruit team players with a dash of big dogs; it has worked before.
Today is a great day to love Auburn, a little better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
In our own world we see and judge things accordingly. Yet we are not alone just look at Arkansas and Tennessee, are they not in a very similar situation or Penn State a year ago? So far Gus has lived up to his word and based on the information that the writers on this board have provided he is working his butt off. So I will hope for the very best and accept the best he can deliver.
..........BEAT BAMA .................BEAT BAMA..................BEAT BAMA
I believe if we would have got D Craig last week we all wouldnt be as anxious for news, but since he turn AU down it has left a bad taste in our mouth's. So needing some good news soon: come on down Tracy Rocker!!
It's a new day in Auburn football!
Thanks Phillip. Great article.
Being not able to lure D Craig away from FSU really hurt s I was hopping to get him back to AU. Is there any counter offer they can make?
