I received my Masters at Florida and while I was watching them and Louisville play, I found myself pulling for Louisville. Why? Because the Gators were acting like thugs.

Watching Bama last night, I saw no thuggery, though the pushing match between McCarron and Johnson was very interesting (later they were shown hugging each other and patting each other on the backside).

I think I know what people mean when they say, "The Bama way," or "The Auburn way," but you can never be sure. The way they did it on the field last night was the right way. They were clearly the best team on the field and the prettiest girlfriend in the stands was an Auburn grad!

    War Eagle!

right on about the gators. I am SEC all the way but like you I started pulling for Louisville. I thought initially that ND came out with a chip OTS and that ended in a hurry.

  • PM, excellent article. It is time to quit talking about Alabama and turn our focus completely within. Silently rebuild our program and let it speak for itself on the field.

    We comin!!

  • Great post. Let's move forward, no longer dwell on the past. Ever since coach Dye came to town I have tried to not worry about any other program than ours. I think that is good advise for us as fans and the school as well. With the media in Alabama we can't help but know what is happening at Alabama but I just don't dwell on it. Most times I don't read or listen to what is said about them. All I can say is sic'em Gus.

  • 2012 is over its 2013 and its a new season. Everyone has been saying 2013 the team will be a force i had doubts of that hapeneing but watch CGM assemble his staff i do believe our Tigers will rebound and shock the world next yr. National championship probably not but theres no reason we cant challenege for the SEC West. Ill stay up saturday after saturday here in England to watch my team take the field. cant wait. War Damn Eagle!!

  • IMO It really isn't so much about "setting values and being true to them". Nor is it about doing things "your way". Chizic did things his way and that got him fired. Unless there is some success PDQ or at least signs of "righting the ship" Malzahn is going to be called stubbon, as well. What it is about, is getting the Pro caliber player that we see coming into T town in a steady stream, of late. Last year, we didn't look like we had much of that. To quote Pat Dye, it's not so much the Xs and Os as it is the Jim and Joes. We are talking about Football, pure and simple. It is brute force and, agility, body control and speed as much as anything. Yes, you've got to have the right attitude, but that goes without saying. We are in THE toughest league in College FB. Let's hope for the best and Go Gus is what I say.

  • Sometimes we don't appreciate what we have until it is gone. Did the previous staff and players become content and not do the things that it takes to stay on top of their game? IIRC, the same thing happened to the Pat Dye era in the 90s. I felt like we had the talent Dye's last year (Stan White @ QB), but something just didn't jive. Did they become complacent after so much success? Regardless of how we feel about Bowden, look what happened with a new leadership and possibly a better attitude the very next year. I agree with Phillip, we don't need to copy exactly like across the state (even though there are reasons for success that should be given attention to), but we should be AUBURN. The bible speaks of envy, we don't need to wish for what others have without realizing what special things we have ourselves. We have a great academic school, we have a great fan base that supports ( yes we get aggravated at times, but we care), we have tradition, and we have been to the top. It's time to be Auburn again.
