A tale of a different kind of search, a running back who deserved better and reversal of fortunes in men's and women's basketball.

  • Working late tonight to meet a project deadline tomorrow, I thought I'd speed thru a few AU sites to maybe pick up some good news to dream about. I shouldn't have bothered. Just about every AU site—except this one—is reporting that our new RBs/Special Teams coach we got from San Diego is busy 'weaseling'(my word) out of his contract to join the Dallas Cowboys. Supposedly he has a prior seven year stint working with Monte Kiffin, blah blah blah. I have no idea if any of the RBs we're really trying to get will be influenced by this one way or the other. My guess is 'not'. I know we will replace this dude right away. It's not that I think we're losing some guru because he was pretty much a nobody before Gus hired him, it's just the way it looks on the surface to some of these prospects. Especially after that opposing recruiter makes a big deal out of it to a kid and his family. It just sucks. Well, good riddance and enjoy your one year with Dallas before Jerry Jones cleans house, coach B--something. I never even learned your name!

  • PM, I agree with widowmaker0072. Get a MacBook Pro. Old Dogs can learn new tricks when the new trick work. I recently got a Mac when my Laptop was stolen. I'd considered it a laptop ago but didn't. I wish I had back then. Best move I ever made. MacBook with "Office mac" will solve your problem. Consider it like having to learn a new offense or defense. Not easy but well worth it. You will be amazed. If you really want to kick some serious ass, get an iMac desktop for the house and an iPad for the road and you're set for anything.

PM, you should try a MacBook Pro. Once you get used to it, you'll never want a PC again.

My two cents: I've used a MacBook Pro, an iPad, and a PC running Windows 7 Professional every day for three years.

I don't get the fuss over a Mac. It's way more expensive to purchase, and all the peripherals are more expensive, too.

If you want to surf the web and send emails, a Mac is great, but why pay that much? For all my business applications and photo editing the Windows platform is way better to me.

As for cell devices, I've had an iPhone, a Windows phone, and a Samsung droid. Droid is the way to go.

  • My Camphone runs Windows 8. Took a bit to work up the familiarity curve, but I Like it now.

  • MacBook is the best investment that I have ever made concerning computers. War Eagle! What's up with Coach B? Hate to see something like this happen, hope that we don't lose any key recruits over this!

  • Ditto, Phillip. My wife's pc went down, and I bought her one with Windows 8. Neither of us can figure the #@*%$ thing out. It is terrible. Today I got an e-mail offering an upgrade to Windows 8 from Vista. I gave them an ear full. We are both going to Macs and using the old laptops with Windows as frisbees.

Take notes the next time they do it. Watch where they go and what comands they type in. It will help you the next time you have an issue you can at least understand what is going on.

Coach B should go on to Dallas. I figure he landed at Auburn and Coach Malzahn almost worked him to death recruiting. Some guys are just better suited for the pros. The last thing Auburn needs is a coach who had rather be somewhere else. Wish him well and let him go. Maybe his decision to come to Auburn was a spur-of-the-moment thing, and he wants to go back to the NFL. After signing day, there will be plenty of available RB coaches. I don't know if any of Auburn's recruits were considering Auburn just because of him. I'm thinking most were like me, never heard of him until he was hired by Auburn.

  • I'm glad to see some sanity on here this morning. People were freaking out about Coach B leaving yesterday and I was worried about myself for not seeing the problem.

He probably couldn't name twenty college recruits yet. He hasn't even built relationships with other Auburn coaches yet. He will be replaced and nobody will care in a month.

  • iMac, MacBook, or Big Mac -- any of them are better than anything running windows

    woolybully

  • PM--Macs are the way to go. I'm in the newspaper business and that's all we've worked on for over 20 years now. A lot easier than PCs and a MacBook Air will serve your needs well. You'll kick yourself for not coming over to the dark side years ago!

  • They are right Phillip. You should try a Mac. It too will be a little bit of a learning curve but once you get it you'll love it.

  • Go with the MacBook Pro. If not, call the Geek squad at Best Buy and they will come to your house and fix your computer and it's inexpensive.
