#PMARSHONAU: Lunchtime musings 1/16

With our weak, compared to last few years, schedule, 8 wins will be a bit of a letdown. We don't gloat over 8 win seasons at Auburn and have plenty in the cupboard to win 10 games next year. We must hold our standards higher than what the lame coach Chiz had some believing. Soooo glad he is fired and all his cronies. Gus has proven virtually instant offense wherever he has roamed. He recruited nearly every player on offense at some point, so the learning curve was matched the day he was hired. This is HIS team. He got most of the coaching credit for 2010 and it looks as if he was the only one to deserve the credit, certainly wasn't the coaching from some of the others. We deserved an F in all aspects. His needs to turn this thing around now, not 3-4 years from now. The Pressure is on, I think Gus will respond! Sad when Auburn fans simply want a winning record. From ultimate sunshine pumping to nearly giving up, that's quite a swing in 7 months. Flame away!

I'll never give up with regard to Auburn. Looking at next year's schedule, it might be tougher overall than this past year and that was one of the toughest we've had in a long time (we play 3 of the top 4 teams in the country plus another in the top 10). With CGM and the new staff I think 8 regular season wins and a bowl win will be a real challenge with essentially the same players from last year realizing we have lost our two best receivers and another major playmaker and no proven QB on offense and with a defense that has been just awful the last 4 years.

As a dedicated Auburn fan I hope and believe we might do even better but to go 8-5 or 9-4 against the 12 teams we have to play next year would be a significant improvement over 3-9 and we'd be heading in the right direction. Beyond the numbers I am looking for a team which is fundamentally sound, tougher and improves during the season.

We have 2 "gimmies" next year. Beyond that each of the other 10 will be a struggle. If we're competitive in every game, even that will show we're turning a corner. We've got a long way to go to become an elite SEC team once again. We haven't been one since 2010 and before that we've been spotty for quite a while. We were ranked 81st in the final computer poll of 2012.

    Weve Won 9

I'd be ok with 8 if bama was one of the wins.

I'd be OK with 4 wins if bammer was one of them. But I think we get 8 or ten and a bowl game win.

  • I still dont think the no huddle spread can truly become "pro-style". In a season or two, the DCs in the NFL will catch up. And you will see more of these dual-threat QBs being injured mid-season. The DLinemen and LBs are just too strong and fast in the NFL for a dual-threat QB to be a long-term solution like a Manning or Brady (RGIII a notable exception). Of course since we now run a no-huddle with a dual-threat QB, I hope I am wrong. NFL defenses are going to adapt, and will draft players that will help them adapt.
