After what has to be one of the worst calls in officiating history, Clowney went absolute beast mode and destroyed that guy. Every one of our D-linemen should be forced to watch that play repeatedly every day til next season. WAR EAGLE and a blessed new year to all.

Phillip, I was thinking exactly the same thing today. It was much more fun, when the small bowls led up to the New Year's Day finale. I know we can't have a championship playoff with it like that. However, during the BCS era, we could still have finished it off on New Years Day, with the exception of the championship game. As you said, alas, things change. They surely do.

Totally agree that the best games should be on New Years' Day.
What was even more impressive than that hit was Clowney then palming the football with his left hand. WHAT!?! I don't know if I have ever seen that.

Mullen is an average coach at a below average football winning opportunity school. I have often wondered how he would have done in 2010 with Cam, if his money guys had been able to consumate the deal. I have never figured out how he and Miss St went unscathed in that whole matter. The had actual "bag men", and still nothing has been said or done about it. The fact that Miss St beat Auburn so badly last season just shows how bad it had become at Auburn.

Agree, Phillip. The old days were more fun at bowl time, mainly because Auburn was usually playing in one. This year has been like attending a funeral when you didn't know the guy who died. One thing that I do like, though, is that except for the weekend and holiday games, several are played at night so working people can watch them. The only thing I would change is to avoid two good games being played in the same time slot. Spreading the games out does prevent some of that.

Auburn not playing in post season really shows you how bad our team was this year. Because there are a lot of bad teams playing in bowl games.

When Auburn, Tennessee and Arkansas get back up on their proper perches in the league, the league will be strong again.
Ole Miss is heading in the right direction hard and making a lot of noise in recruiting. That may hold State and Arkansas back for a few years.
Auburn will be scoring again next year, but can they stop anybody yet?

Clowneys hit reminded me of Fairleys hit in the Iron Bowl when Bama was about to score on the 5 yard line. Fairley got the sack, fumble and recovered his own fumble. Had that play not happened and Bama scored we would not have played for the NCG. I think Clowneys hit changed the game after the terrible spot foul up.

UGA, UF, USC, LSU, Tx A&M, and UA? Any of those teams could be national champs...
