In 1972 and 1981, grueling spring practices set the tone for glorious days for Auburn football.

Most of us, who only played HS ball, have no concept of the intensity of normal college ball until we get there. It is hard to prepare for it . I was working my way into a GA position in that spring that Coach Dye started. Take a normal practice and put it on steroids and you might understand what it was like. It was the most intense, physical time I have ever witnessed in my life. Anyone who stayed...was the real deal..

The Army has taken the same path as far as basic training is concerned. Thanks to those smarter than us, not much can be asked of anyone for fear that someone may get too tired or feel inferior.

"There's no doubt, we're going up."
That was a tough group of men that proved themselves. Great teams to watch too.
Now you cant hit a QB high, or low, or late, or hard, you cant hit a vunerable Receiver and a RB cant lower his head.

If we had one Coach Jordan didn't like, he would say it didn't count. Best line I've ever read on this blog. I love it! WDE!!
Thanks Phillip! As you can tell I ignored the header and read it anyway!! (I knew what it meant but had to take a jab anyway lol) I do remember the "punt bama punt" game but of course in those days I didn't get to see it only hear it and it was one of the greatest experiences, to go from total disappointment to absolute exhilaration. I was jumping up and down in the middle of my living room all by myself! LOL Nice walk down memory lane Phillip
