#PMARSHONAU: Doubters don't faze Malzahn

Malzahn's supreme confidence in himself and his system has not been shaken by doubters.

  • PM.....as always, thanks. Yes, the Bo Jackson special was right on point. After watching it, it even breaks my AU heart further that there have been so many AU doubters pointing at Bo, Pat S. and Mr. Mc on the net.....time we all get together behind the new team and thank the 3 volunteers on the committee for their continued loyalty and caring about our beloved football program. They made a choice based on their best experience - far more than 99% of the "doubters" - that they believe gives us the best chance to return to glory.......quickly. Time will tell, but the current actions since Gus was hired sure look to be moving in a good direction and quickly. Keep us updated.

  • PS.......PM, any updates on Jovon or Big Hutch? Seems they would be excellent drop ins into the Gus Bus offense. Would love to see them clear JC an get back to AU......WDE

  • As a favor to all Auburn fans I'm going to doubt that he can return Auburn defense to where it belongs - top twenty nationally.

I hope he proves me wrong, because if he does there will be championships.

  • The question must be asked. Can a defense jell when a policy assures a scholarship regardless of the athletes convictions regarding effort in performance? Some how, the idea seems to be contrary to human nature. Why bust your butt in strength and conditioning when you'll go to school regardless on the athletic budget? Perhaps that is not the case. Perhaps there are costraints to the policy that once awarded, it's active for four years. What are the rules to which Coach Malzahn will abide?

They may get the scholarship, but they wouldn't play. These boys want to play ball.

  • Did they want to play last year? Why was that team the leader in failure over more than 50 years of football? Why did those boys fail and these boys will play? Many of them are the same boys.

No 17 year old came to Auburn because he could get a guaranteed four year ride he came because he thought he was the best. What he found was no leadership no coaching and no one on same page. We have that now - get the right players on the bus, wrong players off the bus and get everyone in right seat.

  • I LOVE that Bo had/has a man cave instead of doing the bar/club scene. That is so refreshing in this era. Why can't every man be like Bo?

  • I support the hire of CGM 110%, but also remember not being comfortable with the Gus bus a lot of times. Before GCM supposedly pulled the plug our offense had a great propensity to shoot itself in the foot. Delay of game, illegal formation, unable to get a play off after a timeout, unable to move the chains when we were ahead in the fourth quarter. None of these issues were the result of tempo. All of these defects were visible with the naked eye, and Ray Charles could have seen it, but the sunshine pumpers could not. I will never accept the fact that the offense stalled mainly because GGC asked Gus to slow it down. in 2011 we weren't able to get out of our own way to begin with

  • I have not doubted Coach Malzahn's leadership since before it was popular to fawn all over him. But, that's the point, what will he do to stop the funny business that started before he left, perhaps as early as 2010. Whoa, I'm not saying he had anything to do with it, only that Phillip has said Coach Malzahn brought siigns to the attention of Chizik and they were ignored. I'll agree with most all the points raised except that it's going to get better by itself. A parasite is not converted without a stick somewhere. And consensus says we saw a number of parasites in 2011-they didn't tackle, or block, or run guod paterns, or do mch more than benefit from a schlioarship. They are like some moderators who don't like what they read. They repeat a message three times when it's obvious two peats should be deleted.
