At this point in time, I'm more concerned about the developement of a cohesive football team than the fan base.

IMO, getting this football program back on track (the Auburn track) will calm the fans (even most but not all of the fickle fan base).

I trust CGM is the man for he job as he is now the person in responsible charge.

I hope the future reads 'practice was not up to our expectation' and 'our ENTIRE football team gave it's all to WIN this Saturday'.

Thanks Phillip, nice to see some call out for those who were adamant in their choice. I didn't have Gus in my top give but I'm excited about the hire. I was hoping for a bigger name but I think Gus has the right idea. WDE.

I think the rise of chat rooms and posting has led to a great decline in civility. One can remain fairly anonymous and say whatever one wants about anything and make threats and not worry about retribution. I am afraid that is a consequence of the digital age we live in. Unfortunate. As far as Petrino if he came, he came, if he didn't he didn't. I can understand the reasoning behind both. I truly believe however, that we made a better hire for the good of AU as an institution of higher learning and for the football team.
On another matter related to the whole subject, Tim Brando this morning talked about what a mess AU is in because of the NCAA investigation that is still ongoing. I understand from what I read on this board that the investigation is nothing to be concerned about. Why then do all the media outlets keep bringing it up? Thanks for all you do!

Phillip, I like Gus. I'm glad he is our coach and I fully support him. I hope he wins big here. I think he is a great football mind.

But working feverishly night and day like he does in no way guarantees positive results. One must 'effectively' be working hard. Like practicing the right moves hard, not the wrong ones hard.

I am sure Gene Chizik worked extremely diligently as well. Obviously, he didn't diligently work on the right things.

Yeah, the same thing happened when Coach Dooley reneged in late 1980 and Auburn "settled", hiring an almost unknown HC from Wyoming who referred to us as "The University of Auburn" in his introductory press conference. He then proceeded to take Auburn football to another level, arguably winning a MNC, 4 SEC championships, finishing in the top 10 four years in a row and 5 times in 7 years and setting the stage for 1993, 2004 and 2010.

We thought Dooley was our ticket back to the big time. We had no idea what CPD had in store for us. And that's why he'll always be revered and respected by Auburn people who know what he achieved for our program.
