Phillip This was a business move, plain and simple. The morale of this team was in the toilet. The fact that Yox does not see that is exactly the point here. You obviously really like him and it is easy to tell that by the tone of the article but, once again, the fact that he does not think that a lot of those kids quit this year is exactly why he has to go. Everybody respects him and he will land on his feet easily, but, as hard as it may be to face, he helped play a part on what you yourself called one of the worst teams in conference history. I'm not saying these boys are weak but they were getting physically whipped every single week. Yox is not without blame here. You make it sound like we are throwing the baby out with the bath water and that is not true. Just like Chizik, Yox can't see the forest for the trees right now. The rebuilding of the attitude here has to start at the basic level and Gus needs people he can trust that buy in to exactly the way he wants to go about doing that. I really like your writing and love this site Phillip but this is sensationalism going on in this piece. We all appreciate your honesty and the hard work and long hours you put in to bring us the best Auburn coverage on the planet, but if you can't see that he needs to go, you are guilty of being too close to it right now as well. Hard decisions have to be made and Gus is making them. I know it's not your job to be a fan, but a piece like this comes across, to me, as pretty self indulgent and can only serve to get people's emotions stirred up and create more divisiveness on these boards. Don't you think we have enough of that already? Just saying

There is somebody to question everything. This column did not say one word critical of what Malzahn did. It was about a man who gave 13 years of his life to Auburn. People need to stop trying to find ulterior motives in what I write. I don't do that. I wrote about I man I've known and respect. If I'd wanted to criticize Gus Malzahn for firing anybody, I would have. I didn't, not one time.
