I've kept up with recruiting since Alan Evans committed to Auburn. That was huge - according to the local stations and the papers.

Nobody paid much attention when Vincent Jackson committed to Dye over Bama in that same class. No real big deal there.

Not much has changed since then. There is no reason to get excited, as Jimmy says.

Good read, Phillip, but the word "pressure" popped up again. "Pressure" is not having to face the decision of which big league program to sign with no more than trying to decide between a Cadillac or a Lincoln. Pressure is on the kid with no athletic ability, who is working his way through school worrying about next year's tuition increase, food to eat, and having to study on his own with no help from tutors. I understand the outside influences that a player must deal with when making the big decision, but feeling sorry for them is not an emotion that I feel. Many times these guys change their minds and back out on their first choices. It's a free country. They can do what they want with their choices. What is sickening is the attitudes of some of these physically gifted young men whose behavior during recruiting cannot be described as anything but arrogance. Some never learned the principle of getting more out of a situation if you are willing to give more. To some of these guys, it's all about getting. These types will never be satisfied. I'm glad Liner finally decided to be honest about his feelings. I wish he had done it long ago. For him to change his mind does not make him a bad person, but stringing other people along, not so good.

I agree with Old Tiger above. I understand that many players will change their minds, but those who intentionlly string teams/coaches along are much worse. I can usually wish a player well after he changes his mind, but one like TJ Yeldon, I am sorry. If he flunked out of school, or got arrested, or blew a knee...never to play another down, I guess I would be smiling.

A lot of attention was paid to the rrecruitment of Bo Jackson. There was a lot of high drama surrounding the question "will he play for auburn or sign with the Yankees. The idea that there was no drama around his recruitment and signing is a myth that got started somehow along the way and has seemingly grown. It is a myth. Yes, Evans was considered #1 buy Bo was right behind him and there was a lot of interest in what he was going to do
