Auburn '99, Beta Zeta of Theta Xi
In addition to his obvious talent, I think the trait which makes him so endearing to people is that he's truly humble and down to earth.
My brother happened to cross paths with him around 14 years ago at a Birmingham golf course and somehow became the fourth of their foursome. My brother didn't go to Auburn but he was still a bit nervous. Bo was cool, said a couple things that calmed my brother down and they enjoyed the round.
The blank scorecard with Bo's autograph sits prominently on the top shelf of my display case in the living room.
It's Great to be an Auburn Tiger!!!
"Life is so much simpler when you tell the truth."
I never personally met Bo at the time, but I was fortunate to be working part-time at a television station and was the field tech for audio-video equipment at some of the Auburn games that we covered. I do remember standing in the post-game locker room after beating FSU while Bo was being interviewed, and I can tell you, he was every bit the imposing physical specimen in person as he seemed on TV. Super nice guy and a great Auburn man. I did speak to him and Lionel James one night coming out of The Supper Club in Auburn, but I wasn't in the best shape to recall the entire event...;-)
It's a new day in Auburn football!
Right after Bo went pro, Pat Dye stated, " that you will never have to worry about Bo. He always associates his self with good people. Always has and always will." How many of the great athletes can you say this about. A truely special person!!
And how close this all was to never happening as Bo sat in the Opelika bus station as a home sick Freshman heading home to Bessemer
