PM or BM, Redshirts?

  • Hey guys! Any word on who will receive redshirts this year? I'm still holding out hope to see Ladarius Phillips play this year and take a load off of Cam in the third and short situations.

    This Auburn staff is not likely to come out and confirm anything yet but anyone who hasn't played to this point or doesn't play this Saturday is almost assured of a redshirt barring a major injury to a starter.

    The guys to keep a close eye on this week are LB Jake Holland, RB Ladarious Phillips and WR Trovon Reed. Holland is right there at MLB and could help this team on special teams but the fact that he hasn't played yet likely means he won't unless Bynes is injured.

    Not sure on Phillip's status for this week or the rest of the season but he's missed so much time a redshirt seems inevitable. Reed has played in one game but could still receive a medical hardship waiver if he doesn't play the rest of the season.

  • BM or PM, Can you tell me if AU has told E Smith( fg kicker in Lagrange, Ga) that he can walk on or willing to give him a scholly. I grew up in LaGrange and still keep in touch but they are saying he was offered a scholly. Hard for me to beleive since we signed Cody Parkey last year and i think i saw him kickoff a couple times against Arky St

  • I really wanted to see Ladarius Phillips this year. I hope he shows up this weekend, but something tells me he might not.

    Don't know about the LaGrange kicker specifically but Auburn is planning to bring in a couple of kickers as walk-ons to compete with Parkey for the starting job next year and kickoff. They'll have an opportunity to earn a scholarship if they win a job.

    Acc'd the the coaches, Parkey has been good kicking field goals in practice but is not good at kicking off.

    Preciate the update! Whatever the outcome, I'm sure it's what's best for both he and the team.

  • With the exception of Reed we'll probably redshirt the rest. I only think Reed plays if he's 100%, you can't keep a guy with his talent off the field.
