Im all for it if we can replace the eagles with PETA members. Throw one out at the beginning of each game, and start a new tradition.

Best response in a long time!!! You, Knecs, get all my up votes.

  • Perhaps Auburn fans who contribute to PETA should politely decline any more donations with a note saying that they can no longer contribute to an organization who only supports situations which bring them the most press. They need to turn their attention back to dog fighting, rooster fighting, puppy mills, etc. It may not make a big splash with the press but it is still widespread and heart rending. Spirit did what most preditory birds do, he saw another eagle and went after it. Even I could see his reflection in the window across the field from the West side and immediately thought he could go after the "other" bird. One of the Raptor experts said he looked like he led with his claws which is indicative of a bird attacking. As for flying low over the crowd after, I suspected he was looking for a ledge to land on but then recovered his bearings and saw his trainer on the field where he immediately changed his flight and landed on the field.

  • Was watching a recorded version of Auburn Football Every Day (I do not think that is the right name of the show, but I am too tired to go look - it's on SportsSouth and put out by Auburn folks), and they had an excellent segment on Spirit's mishap. Sounded like the Dr. and the Biologist were speaking directly to the PETA people. Our people know WAY more than the PETA blowhard about this. I go with the Auburn people.

    War Eagle!!
