  • Well what is even funnier is that the Bammers feel that the SEC instructed Saben to throw the game so the SEC could have another team in the National championship game!! talk about a conspiracy theory!!

  • It's just life in the SEC. Should we win the NC and achieve "Sacred Cow" status those calls go our way. It stinks but it's been that way as long as I can remember.

  • I do realize that every SEC team and thier fanbase will always find a few of the official's calls from their previous week's game very questionable, but I've never seen an officiating crew be so blatantly one sided on how they called a game like what I witnessed during last friday's Iron Bowl. My father was an official for 20+ years in Louisiana before hanging up his whistle when he moved back to Alabama. He was the head official for Lousiana state highschool football games/playoffs and he even officiated an occasional college game at every collegiate level there. I asked him how he felt about the officiating for friday's Iron Bowl and he felt very similar to how the game was run as I do. If a baseball umpire behind the plate has a particular strikezone they like to call for a game, they should always be consistent with how they calls balls and strikes. They can change their stikezone a little from game to game but the balls and stikes should always be consistent for that given day just to be fair for both teams involved. It's the same way in football or any other sporting event. I'm not someone that believes there is some major conspiracy going down against Auburn University, well unless it involves Bammer maybe haha. I'm just stating some unusal facts about the officiating for friday's Iron Bowl that others posted on different forums and my own personal thoughts about a few of the things that I found strange about the officiating on friday too. I'm sure the Auburn coaching staff will find quite a few more things than the obvious ones I've pointed out here to gripe about with Mike Slive and the Dean of Officials for the SEC once they actually get a chance to observe the film for themselves. Just some food for thought for the week ahead.

  • I just ran across this post on a Bammer board and thought I'ld share it with everyone here, because this has to be one of the ridiculous posts by a Bammer fan I've ever read. I'm still laughing.

"Remember in 2009 Bama started 13 seniors that were recruited by Shula. We are now viewing Nicky's recruits on the field. Looks like the story may be different when he plays with his own recruits."

  • Yeah that Nebraska-A&M game was terrible, I'm sure the Big XII will look right into Pelini's gripes too at the end of the year. I wish they would take the officiating away from the conferences and I hate saying this but, allow the NCAA to control it. The NCAA doesn't get the kind of payout with the BCS as they do with NCAA Basketball Tournament. But I'm not 100% sure that would be the best idea on how to get better officiating.

  • I agree we got some unfavorable spots during the game, I also agree that Fairley was targeted for the GA game and the after game whining that went on. I do feel the ref's called it both ways though. :)

  • You welcome and thank you for the kind words. I can't take all the credit for this though. All of the timed postings were posted by other peeps, some had video footage too showing proof though, and I just summerized what they said along with what I could remember about the game myself. I wonder if all the SEC boards could agree to get together and combine all the blown/bad calls and spots to turn it over to the SEC, still laughing, and see if we could get some better calls and spots on our football saturdays down south. It would be a nice dream but for every blown/bad call and spot for one team it helps another team and we would all agree to disagree on almost all of them out of love/loyalty for the school we pull for on SEC football saturdays.

  • Chizik knows that like the call on Fairley that was likely influenced by events during and after the Georgia game, going public against the refs is rarely a productive move. Better to file an complaint privately with the SEC on the bad spots and hope to influence the refs in a future game. I'm sure this is what Richt did after the Georgia game and Auburn paid for it with Fairley's phantom penalty in the first quarter.

  • Great investigative work, you should submit this to Thayer Evans, he could use an actual factual basis for a speculative story - this is easier to believe than everything else he has dreamed up and reported as fact.

  • All good info, but one oversight I've either missed or it hasn't been discussed. On every play when we had the ball the back judge placed the ball then stood over it for as many as 7 to 10 seconds which allowed alafumble to line up. Then and only then did he move.....did it time and time again.
