OT: biscuits and gravy in ATL

  • I moved to ATL from AU last year and haven't found a good biscuit and sausage gravy place yet (haven't really looked too hard either). I loved BBQ house in AU. Does anyone have any suggestions for ATL? I have heard the silver skillet is really good.

  • The Silver Skillet is good for breakfast. Especially their country ham.

What area of Atlanta are you in?

That's crazy that you posted this today. I'm from Birmingham and just ate at the Silver Skillet for the first time this morning. We were in Atlanta and we like to eat at good local places when we are traveling so we went there. It was really good and the biscuits were awesome, but I had them with bacon and cheese instead of with gravy. I am certain that they would be excellent with gravy too. Also, DO NOT leave without trying the lemon ice box pie. We had a piece and then bought a whole pie to take home with us. The other poster is right about the ham with red-eye gravy as well.

Where exactly do you live in ATL? I live in Forsyth County and there a couple of good biscuit / gtravy joins up our way.

I live on peachtree rd in the brookhaven area. I am actually in between brookhaven and buckhead right on peachtree. If you know where the hudson grille is, I am virtually across the street.

I am going to go the silver skillet in the morning and intend on trying the biscuit and gravy. I will make sure to try the pie. I am a huge fan of breakfast places. Next time your in atl, make sure you go to Murphy's in vahi. Its the best breakfast place I have found (way better than flying biscuit).

I tried the Silver Skillet for the first time when I was there for the bowl game. It's on the edge of the Ga Tech campus and is a good old diner that was featured on the show Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. It could also classify as a Dive, my kind of place.

Also Big Nova and I would recommend Chic-fil-a's chicken biscuit with gravy.

  • Martin's for biscuits and gravy and Fox Brothers for BBQ.

  • Old Hickory House in Dunwoody.

    JR's Log House, Norcross

A lot of people like the Flying Biscuit, a little too fancy for me

  • The Silver Skillet is great BUT you are passing one of the best on Peachtree St. The White House Restaurant, On Peachtree between Piedmont and Paces Ferry. Great food, the best Biscuits and gravy. Been there forever!! Skip Flying Biscuit, too vegan for me,

  • ok. so we decided to go to old hickory house since it was pretty close by. It was really good. and the best thing about it is that it was crazy cheap. I will try silver skillet and white house restaurant next weekend.
