  • My hometown of Clay, Alabama has essentially been wiped off of the map today. I am fortunate enough to no longer live there, but I have countless friends and family in the area. Everyone there could use some prayers/support. I have seen photos of houses I once visited reduced to nothing but the front steps. So far I haven't heard of anyone I personally know who has been injured but one young girl did lose her life and many of my friends homes are gone.

  • I saw that on the weather channel today. Hit Centerpoint pretty hard also. This is bizarre weather for January. Since when was it 65 degree's during the winter. The fish are already starting to move up shallow and the turkeys are starting to gobble. Deer season isn't even over yet.

    Crazy times we live in.

  • Centerpoint, Trussville, Clay, and Pinson are all basically the same thing. The worst of the damage was centered on Clay though. Whole neighborhoods, very large ones, are gone. Centerpoint Elementary did take some heavy damage though.

  • I live in Trussville and we were up all night watching the coverage. It hit Centerpoint at around 4:10 and it got very calm here at my house (south of Highway 11) and then the wind picked up fiercely and rain and lightening like you wouldn't believe. That's when we lost power and that is when I am sure it hit the other part of Trussville (north of us) and subsequently, Clay.
One of my good friends lives in Clay and I was unable to find he and his family all day until just two hours ago. They live off of Old Springville Road. They are OK but they were lucky: most of the homes in his area were demolished. His home had windows blown out and they are without power but their house was saved.pray

Jonesta, I am so sorry to get this report. Really, I had no idea it was this bad. Certainly prayers are going up. If you know of any churches or schools that are taking in food, clothing, blankets, etc. would you put it on the board so we can help ?? Please.

  • Northpark Baptist Church I know is doing a lot and will take any of the listed donations. It is located very near the devastated areas.

Sorry to hear about that. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the people affected by this storm, especially the young girl who lost her life.
