Fun to shoot and small don't go well together in a decent caliber. As posted above the Ruger .380 is a great little gun and so is the Kel-Tec P3AT. The Ruger has a slide lock, but the both shoot and feel pretty much the same. My wife does not like the Kel-Tec because has a very stiff spring and is so small it is hard for her to grip it and operate the slide to chamber a round. The advantage to this is that small children will find it net to impossible to chamber a round. My 10 year old nephew can't operate the slide to chamber a round.

.380 is self defense rounds in either package will have a good kick to it and most ladies probably wont consider it fun to shoot.

I have a S&W .40 and a Ruger 9mm. I love both but the 9 is much easier to shoot for a beginer

Get her a public defender. Smaller than the Judge and will get the job done.

For a pocket pistol, S&W Bodyguard. Its so popular you will have a hard time finding one most likely. While it cost a little more then the Keltec or LCP, it's a better format/frame for reliable function. Questions on reliability for Keltec and LCP can be made if you use it regularly, which is a must for all women learning how to be confident with a weapon.

I recently purchased an XDM 9 and love it, but even in the compact 3.8 inch barrel it is slightly larger and heavier than anything in the same size by Glock or S&W M&P. There is a guy on YouTube that does amazing reviews on guns. Hitchcok45..

I looked at the subcompact glocks but I have never owned one. What is the reason you like them so much?

The Judge would work IMO. My 10 year old daughter has shot it quite well.
