Our country should be taking care of our veterans. We need a jobs program for returning vets and ongoing health care insurance. Please call or email your congressional representatives (many are same ones who sent them to war) and ask they support our returning troops and improve their safety net.

It's awful we let this happen to our vets. Somebody should market a Support our Troops sticker for our cars. That means so much.

I worry about these guys, all of them. My daughter has a couple of friends from childhood who have been killed, and her best friend's husband is a sniper for the Rangers. He's been deployed over and over. Everyone we know who has served has been deployed repeatedly. I know it's their "job," but it's taking a huge toll on them and their families. I'm a mother, so I worry. They are still "kids" to me because I've watched them grow up.

I know we are not supposed to get into political discussions on here but since Ron is the creator of this thread which is somewhat political I just wanted to give my 2 cents worth of opinion. I am a Viet Nam Vet who was welcomed home as I went through the San Francisco airport on Christams Eve 1971 with shouts of "baby killer" , "murderer" and many other less than flattering comments intermingeled with slang that cannot be mentioned here along with being spat upon. All of that matterd not to me at the time since I was back in the US in one piece and headed to Atlanta to be with my wife and one yr old son on Christmas Day. But I have never forgotten that feeling of helplessness.

My point here is that unfortunately our elected officials in Washington with a very few exceptions have no clue what it is like to be in harms way in service to this country. This goes all the way to the WH. The one and only exception that I can think of is Senator John McCain, a true war hero. Don't even start to tell me that I missed a certain one who was in VN who ran for President and testified before Congress that we were all killing babies and murdering innocent people.

These Navy Seals who put their life on the line to take out UBL are being treated no differently in 2012 than we were treated in 1971. It is a crying shame that this man and the others whose identity have already been basically "rated out" with no plan of support from our Washington establishment. They will live the rest of their life never knowing when some UBL kook supporter will make an attempt on their life or a member of their family. They will always be looking over their shoulder to see who is behind them. It won't be filthy words or spit coming their way. If the government really cared for these guys and their well being after leaving service I'm sure they could come up a resolution other than a witness protection program. Put your life on the line and we will put you in a witness protection program where you and your imediate family will assume new identity but never have contact with other family or friends - what a crock.

But the disgusting situation to me is that we have Washington elected taking credit for taking out USB. well guess what - they will have secret service protection surrounding them for many years after they leave office. In my opinion it is completely backwards as to who deserves protection without a new identity.

The good thing is that we still live in the greatest country in the world. And I thank ever Vet out there for your service.
