I dont think anyone dislikes Chizik as a person. I think we all know the program is not moving in the right direction under his leadership. IF change is coming which we all hope for and everyone believes will happen then why not announce it after this Saturday's game. What if they announced that the Alabama game would be his last and give Auburn fans and players an opportunity to show their appreciation to him for the national championship. I think it might at least give the fans and players a spark in terms of motivation. Knowing that change is coming I think the family would all pull together for one day and thank him as a man for the one thing he was a part of that we all appreciate. Also even if we did not beat Alabama it would sure inspire the players to play harder for him and put a physical beating on Alabama. Might set them up for another beating in the SECCG.
OH, and part of the deal with Chizik would be that he had to coach that game to get his buyout in case he wanted to go ahead and step aside. What I dont want to see happen is to have an interim coach in place that has one good game and then there are folks that want that guy. Our next hire needs to be a firm disciplinarian. I think Saban is a terrible game day coach but what he does do is set up a good system that is tough and no nonsense and fundamentally sound. That is one of the reasons they have the machine they do. These kids we all recruit for the most part are extremely talented with huge egos. They have to have someone that commands their respect. They have to see the program as a stepping stone to the league. That is the way the top ranked kids make choices. If we think they are student athletes for the most part we are kidding ourselves.
