Nation’s No.2 prospect to visit Auburn

A five-star and one of the nation's top overall prospects is visiting Auburn this weekend.

  • I hope his brother is unhappy at bamur. He looks like a good one!

  • That Auburn gets that kind of attention is phenominal. If Auburn got him and Fulse, boy that would be a recruiting victory. Not likely. But, a great dream.

    AU49

  • I hope so too...but it sounds like his brother is trying to recruit him to the tide...not pushing him, but definitely encouraging him to consider Bama.

I think Cyrus is a smart kid...this is going to come down to where he feels he has the best chance to make it to the NFL in 3 years.

  • If we can pull off this pick up of Cyrus Kouandjio it would really put our offensive line over the top. I like the fact that AU has expanded its recruiting boundaries. The coaches we have do not place boundaries on where they can recruit. They go after the best players that best fit our needs. It's hard to pick them up if you cannot get them to come visit!!! WDE

  • Very exciting!! I would love to run behind that 0-line. Maybe he can help us pull a running back out of the hat by committing the day before. That would be a strong selling point to any of the guys out there.

A lot of people seem to think that, but I've yet to see one public comment where the fact that his brother plays for Alabama is somehow pulling him to Alabama.

I think it's possible that it's working in the opposite direction. The face that Nick Saban and some of the assistant coaches in that program show in recruiting and the face they show to current players is dramatically different. You have to wonder if having insight as to how that program really works is a plus or a minus for this family ...

    Exactly.

Further, I've actually seen some quotes from Cyrus explaining that he would have no problem playing on the rival of this brother's team. It's been said on here before, but with Fluker at Alabama slotted for one of the starting tackle spots, it may be that Cyrus doesn't want to compete with his own brother for the only other starting spot. His gain would be his brother's loss, and vice versa.

Now that is just speculation, as I have not heard him say that, but I also have never seen him saying anything about how great it would be to play on the same team as his bro (he may have, I just haven't seen it).

  • I really like this kid. In my opinion, if we land him he makes the class. Put what ever rank you want on the class this year. He is the one. AMEN and War Eagle

  • “He’s not there yet, which makes him even scarier. You give him a redshirt year and a year to learn, he can be phenomenal.”

I doubt he sees a redshirt. He has the size and a mean streak. He will be on the field as a freshman.

  • Yes! Audiver. I have been trying to tell my bammer "family members"(*?) that our line will reload quickly. Since midseason, as they watched Cam and crew run the ball down the throat of defenses, all I heard was, "Well, their losin' their whole offensive line [not all, only four, yikes anyway], so next year they ain't gone be able to run da ball like dat." I was thinking, "Just wait and see."

And yes gncnew. I hope Cyrus hears those "horror bama stories" before it's too late. I know it sounds a little silly, but knowing that Cyrus in the Old Testament set Israel free from captivity, and it was prophesied 150 years before time, makes me want this guy even more. Sometimes there is a lot to be said about a name!

  • IF he does commit to uat I know everyone on this board will not say, "We didn't want him" "Coach Chiz pulled his offer" "The red-shirts we have are better" etc..... However if he commits to AU???????? swirltoot

  • First off, I want this young man to sign with AU. I do find it interesting, however, that the #2 prospect in the nation would need 1 year to red shirt because he is skinny. Shouldn't the number 2 rated prospect in the nation be able to come in and contribute immediately?? Interesting.

    rob4auburn

  • He plays the same position as his brother, and that's a big reason he's open to AU and Iowa. He's too good to sit 2 years waiting for his brother to move on. We've got a chance to get this guy.

    19auburn49

  • Pulling him from uat is not the real issue here it is getting one of the best linemen in the country.

  • He should talk to Peete Smith, Eric's little brother, who decided to take Ala over AU. Peete will probably spend his career at Tuscaloser warming the bench or being a star on the practice squad.

    Jim Perdue

  • Yah and Nick popped a grayshirt on him also, bet that made his parents real happy.
