  • Well look, this shouldn't really be a libertarian/conservative debate over whether high school coaches can ban long hair. That whole subject is really not even relevant here. The point is, a coach is supposed to be a leader, but it shows a total lack of leadership for a coach whose team is playing for the national championship in a month to throw this huge, stinking pile of dog crap out there as a distraction. If Troop was a leader, he would tell his son to suck it up and make a choice: Either cut the hair or ride the pine. That's the price you pay for having a high-profile job. Let someone else sue if they want to, but Troop should stay out of it. If I were Chiz, I would be majorly pissed.

  • I think all of you have post dramatic stress from the cam situation. You have all become addicted to controversy. just like the cam situation you are all make comments on the portion of the story you have read not the whole story. You gave 31 days to go until the bcs champ game. I suggest you all find a hobby bc this entire post is RIDICULOUS.

  • Lol kids and hair issues have been around since my old HS coach told me my "Elvis-Sideburns" were against team rules back in 1966. Schools don't have a right to require kids to cut their hair unless it's a health or safety issue. Are girls in the school required to have short hair? I believe in discipline as much as any one, but this isn't well 1966 any more.

I agree whole heartedly. I had long hair in high school, sported a mohawk on occasion, a shaved head at times, and now I'm damn near bald. If there is no health concerns or issues of safety, relax and be glad that it is not something of real importance. Now if he was sporting a Mullet, I would have a problem for sure!!!! As far as the law suit goes, cooler heads should prevail, on both sides. No pun intended.afro

Please note the picture of the youngster. Does this look like a problem?

"The suit claims Tolbert, a black man, targets black players only, while allowing white players to play “even though their hair is long, blown out, unkempt and/or even gets in their own eyes, or the eyes of others.”

The coach appears to have a problem with dreadlocks and braids, not long hair, and not safety. Dreadlocks and braids are and always have been characteristics of the African-American community. Several Auburn football players sport dreadlocks and braids including Byron Isom and Darvin Adams. I don't care what race the coach is. If he is placing different requirements on black players than on white players, it is indeed a racial issue. If the above statement is true, then Taylor has every right to fight it in court. If it is found not true, then the youngster will either cut his hair and play ball or sit. Either way, it's none of our business, none of Gene Chizik's business, and has nothing to do with Auburn football.

The law gives each and every one of us the right to petition for justice. There are no exemptions for being a football coach at Auburn.

  • If the kid doesn't want to cut his hair that badly he sholdn't play basketball. Playing basketball is voluntary your there cause you want to be so if you want to play you do what the coach tells you to do. If you don't want to do it you don't play. It would be a different matter all together if the Principal said the kid had to shave his hair and then said he couldn't attend school there until he did. If my memory serves me correctly there has been quite a few cases like this before.

  • Those of you who are bashing on troop for filling a lawsuit make it sound like the situation is this:
troop was asked to have a conference with the coach about his sons hair, he then gets pissed, walks out of the school and then drives straight to his attorneys office to file a lawsuit.

I can assure you thats probably not the way it went down. im sure troop exhausted every means possible to fight this without a lawyer, so maybe, he had to file a lawsuit.
The bottom line is you don't know what happen. and if its not in the rules that state the boy cant have dreads or long hair then they have every right to fight the system.

So, All of you "Joe Schads" on these boards, please wait till you know all of the facts before you go character assassinating people
