Since we are sharing our thoughts...here's mine. I agree his resume and experience looks impressive, and I'm sure he can coach just fine; however, he can't be Gus' first choice or he would have been hired the same day the OC and strength coach were brought over. I don't think he is a bad hire, and most people will agree; however, it is obvious Gus thought there was a better hire out there and we missed on it.

Agreed... His resume is great, he has 30 years of experience, he coached for Beamer. I remember those years at Miss St when they ran the ball down everyones' throats. I'll take this hire anyday.

I don't know whether was Gus' first choice or not, but have you ever hired people? I've gone into numerous hiring situations over the years in which I thought I knew who I wanted but wanted to make sure. I interviewed several people and decided that I was right to begin with and hired that person. However, even if he wasn't Gus' first choice, what does that mean? You really think Gus or anyone else can just look across college football and hire whoever he wants? It means nothing.

I hear ya PM...but can you honestly tell me no other coach was offered? I have a feeling there was another offer. If there was then your example doesn't hold water.
