I agree with you, Mike - and I'll take it further, as well. I do believe we need a 'reaction department', as it were - similar to political campaigns, where a counter-strike is done every time a negative narrative comes up. Auburn probably has a 'propaganda' department within the PR area, and they need to be on their toes and respond loudly and forcefully whenever idiocy and dislike rear their ugly heads. We laid back during the Cam saga, and, yes, we got through it - but if we'd hit back logically and legally, I believe we'd have come off better than we did by just having 'no comment'. There's ways to combat this slanted news without coming off as 'whiners', and good PR folks know how. I think we could use some of this 'know-how' in the PR area instead of another coach to do who-knows-what off the field. I may be wrong, but that's how I see it. WDE!!!

This is Auburn Country!! Eufaula, Alabama! WDE!!
I've been saying for a while now that Auburn needs to put out its own message through its own media. Though, like most of what I say, falls on death ears. Auburn can fix its perception but it has to get out there and take the initiative. We've got supporters already. Fox sports has been taking our side a while now. You see there's possibility there too beyond that one thing. ESPN is dominating sports right now, but it only takes one challenger to start breaking that up and Auburn could very well be the place to help another channel start its rise. Yes, it's still possible despite the SEC ESPN deal albeit more complicated now than it was before that deal. Still, Auburn can fix things and it is a complete waste of energy to whine about what's going on with the media when Auburn has so much ability to change things.

Nice job Mr. Marshall!
Ever to Conquer!!
Great article! Thanks for writing what I have been thinking a long time. When there is a bias in reporting, I see nothing beneficial in reacting in paranoid fashion. AU has more positives than most. Build on the positive!
Yes, I believe in Auburn.
That has worked for me a long time now. I go back to 1951, as an ardent Auburn fan, and I remember the last time we finished No. 1 (in 57). That just about hair-lipped the pope, like the 2010 event. Same deal. The reason that "they" are out to get us, and make no mistake - They are after us and will not let up, is simply that we being on top is "not acceptable" to a lot of the world (including Vandy grads and the blog gal). Their preconceptions prevent us from being on top, without something terribly wrong going on. So they seek to suggest we cheated and whatever. We have been put back in our place, by the last FB team, but THEY still get pissed every time that they have a flash-back to Cam and Nick and company making it thru undefeated.
Thanks to everyone for the nice comments about yesterday's column. It's great to be part of Auburn Undercover. Auburn, as we all know, has so many things going for it. How many schools can match Auburn's traditions and the importance that it places on family? Virtually all effective organizations/corporations that I know of do a great job of controlling their message. Now is the time for Auburn to be more aggressive in doing that- and Auburn has such a great message to convey.
