I hope not. For those of us old enough to remember the Marcus Dupree story, this although not all circumstances the same it would be a waste to see the same thing happen in this case. We are early in this developing story but some how I was reminded about this great career that was lost due to a player coach relationship and other outstanding factors as well. I know many have seen the special on Dupree and I hope Mike moves on and has a good career somewhere. Where ever that is that he winds up, I hope it leads him first of all down a straight path to be the kind of man we all want him to become. I hate to see any young gifted person throw away the talent the Lord has given them. I just thought this was an interesting angle to look at this from!

I think this is a really bad comparison. The recruitment of Dupree was a circus with coaches breaking many major recruiting rules. The recruitment of Dyer was not questioned and included a coach who had known him for years. The player/coach relationship with Dupree was a situation where the coach took advantage him. The player/coach situation with Dyer is one where the coach is trying to help him grow into a man. I agree totally with you in hoping that Mike is able to move on and have a good career. It just seems to me that what happened to Dupree and what happened to Dyer up to this point in his career has no similarity.

Michael Dyer a story similar to Marcus Dupree?
