Memphis Radio and Guden

Philip's old buddy George Lupides said on Memphis radio this morning that Gruden could be named Tennessee coach as early as today or tomorrow. George has numerous contacts all over the south and would not say this if he didn't believe it could happen. Contract will call for 7 to 8 mill per year plus a small percentage of ownership in the Cleveland Browns if he stays at UT for 4 years. Before anyone laughs, the new owner of the Browns is the father of the governor of Tennessee. They are both huge UT boosters. One of them just up and gave UT 1 mill a few years ago just to run thru the 'T' right before kickoff. Would be a splash hire if they pull it off.

If I were the guy at Tennessee making that decision, I would give a call to Nick Saban first...

No, it has nothing to do with Satin or winning; it is a matter of preferring the schools over there to the thugs with lots of money in the SEC west. Oh wait, UGA is in the East. Still like them better or maybe the ACC. These days that makes as much sense as anything.
