Mel Kiper Jr Has Newton going #10 to Washington

  • Just saw Mel Kipers mock draft and he has Cam going #10 to the Washington Redskins. I thought he would go somewhere later.

He has listed Fairly going number 1 over all!

  • I am cool with that. So long as it's not the Bills......

I have a $50 bet with a buddy (UW fan) that Newton goes before Locker. I think Kiper has Newton ahead of Locker but McShay has Locker ahead of Newton. The next three months will be very interesting.

  • They are both horrible places to end up but I have to say I'd rather go to the Bills. They are young but I'm not sure they are in the market for a QB. Fitzpatrick did a good job for them as a whole and he is fairly young. 23 TD, 15int and 3100yds passing. I think they have more immediate needs

Washington will get rid of McNabb during the off season and that leaves them with Grossman, the turnover machine. They are in need of a QB but it will be trial by fire and if they don't address their offensive line needs, well let's just say that sometimes the NFL stands for "Not For Long". Plus the rest of their team is getting a little long in the tooth as well.

McShay has been worshiping at the altar of Locker for two years, though. It's been a constantly running gag on EDSBS.com.

  • Mostly for selfish reasons, I would like to see Cam still available for the 11th pick to the Houston Texans. This way he gets great QB coaching (Gary Kubiak) and QB mentoring (Matt Schaub). Not to mention I would finally have a reason to buy Texans season tickets.

  • Don't really want Fairley to go to the Panthers. They have been insignificant for the past ten years. It would be great publicity for Auburn to have one of our players to go number one but I don't want Nick to bog down in Carolina.

Plus Ben Tate is a Texan...that would likely become my favorite team if Cam went there.

Wow, I'm really asleep today. I forgot about Ben Tate being here. I guess with his injury and our (Texans) dismal showing this year combined with AU's success I just had a huge brain f@r+...

Thanks for the reminder... I may actually watch the draft now!

  • Snyder has changed his ways and stepped out of the way he was prior.

As a Denver Broncos fan, if there is one QB coach or offensive mind that can take Cam to the next level is Shanahan.

Mike Shanahan is an offensive guru and more importantly, works wonders with QBs.

That would be a great landing spot.

Having lived in DC off and on for the last 25 years, I am a huge and long suffering Redskins fan. I have really mixed feelings about Cam coming here. Yes, I would love to watch him every week, but the franchise has been incredibly dysfunctional for at least 15 years -- too many free agent signings (usually guys who's best days are in the rearview mirror) and too many draft picks given up.

The result is a relatively old team with no offensive line depth, an ineffective running attack, etc. I think Cam would be better off elsewhere, but would still love to see him attempt to turn the Skins around. WDE!
