IMO it just seems fishy auburn would drop a highly rated recruit this late in the game.....shrug

Not if they thought there was only a 50/50 chance they get him... bird in the hand v/s two in the bush ?

  • I hate that he won't be a Tiger, because this kid looked sharp. I thought he could be a future All-American. But man, I love how ruthless and relentless our staff is. If you're not ALL IN you're OUT

...And because Auburn men and women believe in these things, I believe in Auburn and love it. War Eagle, Baby!!

  • Just my opinion, but I don't think it's a matter of being "all in" or not. Every staff, including ours, waits to see what kids will do and doesn't pull their scholarship offer just because we don't know 100%.

I'm guessing it was more than just that he was talking to other schools still and made the public comment that he's not 100% to Auburn. There just has to be something else to it.

The implication has been that we don't want to cross our fingers and wait on Roberson and possibly lose out on him and also lose out on Whitehead. So the idea is we said, enough games with Roberson, we'll just secure Whitehead and not have to worry.

However, we have 22 commitments, which leaves a maximum of 6 spots left. Do we have 6 other recruits that would all come before Roberson? Wright. Kouandijo. Collins. Florence. Those are the only guys I can think of (that we know of) that would come before Roberson. But that still leaves two spots. Seems like we would take Whitehead AND still wait to see about Roberson.

That kind of scenario is very normal and happens every year. Last year we waited to see about Lemonier. We didn't cut him off before signing day just to secure someone else. You don't do that with big time recruits when you still have a very good shot at signing them.

That leads me to believe that something much bigger than talking to other coaches and reporters must have gone down. In all likelihood we'll never know. But I like the idea that our staff is in a position (and willing) to make these tough decisions when some would probably let anything slide in order to land highly rated recruits.

I'll just trust that they know nothing is bigger than Auburn and when something or someone isn't up to par, we part ways, no questions, no looking back.
