This seem to be an avoided topic on this board. A lot of overly optimistic viewpoints on LBs in my opinion. Where are th Takeo Spikes, Curt Crains, Greg Carrs, Quenton Riggins, Karlos Dansbys, Dontarrius Thomas', Travis Williams', Marcella Mostellas, Alex Lincolns, etc. Just think about those names people!!! They just don't exist on our roster. LBs are generally the top tacklers on a team. Strength at that position is what has made D a strength for many years at AU. Until we face that and address it with successful recruiting, we'll be wondering why our D is not in the top tier for the SEC.

I really think coach BVG will have a huge impact recruiting next year. Actually, he's going to have to have a huge impact. If not, we're going to have to go back to outscoring everyone like 2010.

Sorry, but D-line is the ball game. In 2004, we went 13-0 with linebackers: T. Williams, A. Williams, and Kevin Sears, hardly a murderers row. But our D-Line was so stout that Stanley McClover and Quinton Groves came of the bench. Signing 2 D lineman is the most troubling part of the class IMO. Also, I don't think Alex Lincoln belongs on the same list as NFL all pros like Spikes and Dansby; he wasn't near their level.

We signed two 4 star LB's pending on the recruiting site this season. We play a 4-3, just remember. We have happened to sign a new Linebacker Coach who also is a defensive coordinator who is known for developing talent and evaluating high school talent. So it would make more sense for me to see what he does with the 9 scholarship linebackers that we have and who he goes after next year, remember he doesn't care about stars before you all get excited next year: Pollack and Davis were 2 stars I believe. By the way Trey Johnson has a good chance of being a 5 star next year......Seems to me this issue has been addressed if you pay attention and think about it a little.

Remember that Dontarius Thomas was a two star.
Not even Georgia recruited him.

For me, I am always happy and proud to watch guys go on to successful NFL careers, but you can group these guys together on how they relate to Auburn football.

Jimmy McGinty: (pause) You've got to have heart.
Woman Reporter: Can you elaborate?
Jimmy McGinty: (striking his chest with his roll of papers) Miles and miles of heart.
Woman Reporter: (comes to a halt) So with a word, Coach McGinty says Washington will need to have heart to get back into this ball game.

That's what I saw from these guys at Auburn, and all I want to see from future guys at Auburn. Not all those guys were the same talent level or destined for the NFL, but they all played with pride for themselves and the university.
