Legitimate Reason Not to Hire BP?

  • First of all I don't care who slept with who. Sorry I just don't. Didn't care when it was the head of the CIA and I don't now. If we could leave the PR, Auburn man, sleaziness discussion out of this thread that would be great. My question is this:

    Those of you who are absolutely dead set on Petrino, you don't worry that he will bolt to USC/Texas/LSU/Oregon/Program X in one or two years? You don't worry that it is a detriment to have your head coach hated by the entire NFL?

    Those are the reasons I'm hesitant to want him. Thoughts?

    The reason he would consider leaving is because he is winning and others are after him.....that would be a good problem to have.....bring it on.....hope to have that as a problem with our next coach.

    Well...no coaches are immune to bolting.....generally, that's how you get a coach...he bolted from somewhere....ie Saban, tubs, chiz, etc

    No. Auburn is a destination job. You don't leave AU for a better job. You either retire or get fired

  • Except that one time our defense coordinator left to be a defense coordinator at Texas. But your right, that would definitely wouldn't happen twice within two years or anything. And Jeff Grimes didn't spend forever pondering whether to take a lateral move to Texas or anything.

    Auburn is a top 15-20 job in the country. But plenty of coaches would leave Auburn for UF, UT, USC, OSU, LSU, or OK. Most? No. A majority? I don't think so. But some? Yes.

    Oh and you better believe that UT fans thought the same thing 3 years ago. Not saying every coach would leave AU for USC. But some would.
