If you have to ask why I love Auburn so much...never mind

  • I think he is gone after the season. Still committed doesn't sound good. This probably explains the feelings of other recrruits. We will have a long rebuilding time. Also worried about rumors of talented players like Erique leaving. It's really downhill.

  • Our Administration will leave this program in limbo so long that our recruiting class will first become fractured and in all likelihood will be far less than needed or hoped for. I like Carl. He has been Auburn for some time, but I can see the negativity weighing on him.
Where is Jay Jacobs? Gouge won't do anything publicly and he has empowered Jay Jacobs with his past comments. JJ is hiding. IMO he will do everything in his power to sabotage the next AD's Head Coach from being successful.

I would like to see by this Sunday that Jay has been fired and replaced by a competent interim. This guy has been a huge disappointment and Auburn has suffered long enough.

  • I don't weigh in often, but I have been a coach for 39 years. Any higher level football team is a large, complex operation. Anybody who has coached will tell you about the teams that exceeded expectations and ones that mystified us with a myriad of issues. All that being said, let me make a few points about one person that I personally know..

As we seek fault and a fall guy for our present state...... Let's stop dragging Jay Jacobs through the mud... I am not seeking any popularity in making my statements here, nor do I really care about those who really are fans in the fanatic sense (nor am I calling anyone a fanatic). Those that seek to have a football program vaildate their reason for living are beyond logic, too. This message is not for them. I have been an Auburn fan since I was a little boy on a farm in the 1950's, with only a radio to connect me with my team. I am an Auburn man...up or down...winning or losing...

Jay Jacobs is a smart, loyal, passionate, honest, and meticulous person. He is an Auburn man, through and through. He is the same guy who was responsible for the staff that put the NC together. He has not changed. I knew him as a college football player and high school coach in the 80's and I have not been around a more organized, inspirational, God-fearing coach in my life. The kids would run through walls for him. He is a fantastic person...and he is human....just like any other AD in college sports. Ask the Texas AD....ask any other AD that sees the ebbs and flows of his sport programs. Jay is a solid AD. The same people who spoke in glowing terms about him at the top are often the same folks who have decided he is an idiot in difficult times. There is no magic and no magic person to save us...only hard work, trial and error and persistence will work. We are not pleased to be in Alabama's football shadow right now, but we will overcome...due to our traditions, work habits, commitment to excellence and a steady, solid AD like Jay Jacobs. Nuff said.....

  • It's bad real bad. But I think that if Chizik goes...Taylor,Luper,Thigpen and Grimes go. If they go, recruits will be gone. Every article I read about Auburn recruits generally mentions theses guys as "father figures", great men and so on. These guys go and it's over. 2013 recruits will bail with a clear conscience because the people they want to play for are gone. Also, many of the current players will be gone. Especially guys who are talented but didn't get to play. That means another 3-4 years of re-building. Chizik fired would have to be followed by a huge hire to keep some of the guys onboard. In my opinion, a couple of sacrificial goats end up on the altar and everyone keeps their job to keep recruits and players.
