Our 2009 team were hardly world beaters but we were competitive and light years better than 2008, and that was with Chris Todd as QB. Arkansas in 2006 was also not a SEC Championship level team but they were very competitive, beat the socks out of a top 5 auburn team, and that was with a true freshman flop in Mitch Mustain. There's also the leap that Ole Miss took last year, with a good but not nearly Heisman level QB and alot less talent overall than we have. I'm not saying I'd be satisfied with being at the level of Auburn 2009, Ole Miss 2012, or Arkansas 2006, but those teams go to show how a spread team can be instantly competitive in the SEC even with a mediocre QB and even after badly losing seasons. To get to the point of being competitive for another Natty or SEC championship, yes, we would generally need alot more championship level players but I'm not sure that's just on the QB.

They aren't going to make a decision this spring because the newcomers are going to have opportunities.
