Larry Fedora: Updated!

I know that he's not the sexy name tossed about often, but he's a pretty-dang-good football coach! His teams improved each year at USM, winning "12" games a year ago...now he's doing a respectable job at UNC, considering the sanctions against them from the previous crooked coach that was there. Far too many don't want Malzahn....arguing about his HC experience. Another large group is against young Kirby, b/c he's a bammer....againg with no HC experience. Petrino has too much baggage, you say! Stoops isn't available.....Petersen probably isn't interested in leaving Boise St......sooooo, why not Fedora?

*He also had a top-20 recruiting class at USM one of the years that he was there....at USM!

    What say you?

****He went 8-4 with a less-than-stellar roster that had no hopes of playing for any post-season bowl!

****He averaged 40.5 points/game in his first season installing a new system...that's leadership.

****He was a mere "12" points away from being "11-1"!

****Fact: This guy can just plain coach and he understands recruiting and has established relationships in the Southeast, as well as Texas/Oklahoma.......

****He may not seem like a "Home Run Hire" that many of you demand, but he will in a couple of years! That "Home Run Hire" just isn't realistic, as far as a particular "name" that carries weight/experience, because none are really available.

    No.

Care to elaborate, or offer your choice? I'm on record as supporting Fedora, Malzahn, or Petrino...no particular order...I'm not a huge Jimbo fan, though....

The more you look at him the more impressed you get at what he has done. He is not one that I looked at first but could be really happy with him as our head coach. He is a good coach that can recruit and appears he can develop players. Ron stated something in article about advising him about keeping a hold over from the previous staff that Ron said he would get addressed. Don't remember details.

Personally, I'd put LF at the top of my list for the same reasons you listed.

It's hard to argue against what he's done. I'm just not sure who exactly all of the "Home Run Hire" supporters want. Petrino would be fine with me, but I am a bit skeptical about his lack of loyalty to everywhere that he's been. It also concerns me that he lost a game or two every year at UL that he should've won. Also, he failed against Saban/Miles on a regular basis, even with one of the more talented drop back passers (Mallett) in all of college football. That said, I'd jump on board in support of him.....but Fedora or Malzahn would get a call first! Just my opinion, which ain't worth much.....WAR EAGLE!!

  • I just watched Fedora's post game interview. He's an impressive, confident fellow! He didn't dodge any of the questions, or drown the press with pure coach speak....he was very-forthcoming. That doesn't make him qualified, but added to his resume......I'd love to see him hired as our next HC!

  • Fedora is a strong disciplinarian & a heck of a football coach, and we're in dire need of both! That said, I'd put money on it being Gus!

(I don't have any sources, just a strong hunch!)
