    Acworth biker dude, here.
My Auburn-ness. Hope you'll feel this way, too.

    A GOLDEN EAGLE'S ICONOCLASTIC “back-to-the-future” PERSPECTIVE
Thomas Wolfe, American novelist, 1900-1938 once said, “You can't go home again”.
A half century ago, I graduated from Auburn with confidence to engage an uncertain world and to go after my destiny-travel the world, challenge the unknown, defy the odds, climb every mountain, chase the horizon, and discover new frontiers. I've DARED to live the great adventure.
As a new Golden Eagle, I look back over a half-century of immense social, technological, political, military, educational, and international change. I often wonder if my generation is the most enlightened.
Auburn is special; an unprecedented and unrepeatable state-of-mind, undefinable and unprovable to those beyond the Auburn family; a soaring spirit transcending a village, a university, a football game.
The Auburn-Auburn family bond is unique - not a fascination nor obsession, but a strong and genuine kinship.
My first professor-I'll never forget him-told his Chemistry 101 class, “The key to the good life, the core value that is central to Auburn’s vision, is for you to realize, deep in your hearts, that it isn't all about you. The most important lesson you can learn while you are here is for your life to have authentic meaning, fulfillment, and consequence, you'll connect to forces larger and greater than yourself.
Through my half-century of extreme Auburn-ness, I've known what it means to love Auburn This clear vision resonates through my decades, transcends the stars, and travels with me across the time zones. Auburn defines the essence of education, of life.

    Life's only constant-change.
...Heraclitus of Ephesus, c.335 – 475 BCE; Greek philosopher, known for his doctrine of change being central to the universe. To be sure, Auburn has changed; yet, Auburn hasn't changed. The Auburn Family and the Auburn Creed- life, love, gratitude, and people-extraordinary people-hasn't changed.
My Auburn-ness – by choice and by deliberate actions- my involvement with the Alumni Association over a half century – has established my “Pride in the Past and Faith-in-the-Future”. I lovingly cherish and engage Auburn's past, present, and future.
With apologies to Dr. Einstein's Relativity and Quantum Revolution...time apparently speeds up, mass expands, and the space frontier continues unlimited.
I left Auburn; Auburn didn't leave me.
Mr. Wolfe...you CAN go home again.
    War Eagle!
