The guy never said it really happened. Now if Wimbley is denying he said that, I guess that makes a difference but not really. My guess, with the way that Jacobs has built this athletic department, both Gus and Kirby are thinking they're close to tying up the loose ends and getting on the job.

To me, Phillip not coming out and saying vehemently that Smart hasn't been hired or isn't close to being hired says a lot. Then again, he may simply slam me back down to earth in five minutes or so. Something tells me he's working on a piece right now. MY gut is that the announcement comes tomorrow around 10-12 in the morning to early afternoon.

Still, I realize it might be Friday or later for all I know.
