two totally different pedigrees of defensive minds I feel. With age comes wisdom right? Granted he may not be MUCH older I think Johnson has a leg up on most competition at least those available. That's absolutely NOT to say that Van Gorder isn't a talented DC he is he just didn't show it like we thought because he wasn't accustomed to the NCAA offense and understandably so, he was plucked fresh from NFL. While it can be argued HE KNOWS NCAA because he played DC for one of our oldest rivals I might not have baulked at the idea of having him return but I trust Malzahn and his abilities. WDE. best of luck to all of those coaches we have lost (EVEN CHIZIK) I will always consider you au family.

If AUB don't bring anyone back here is my wishlist of coaches. Offense OC-Chad Morris RB/sp.teams-Eddie gran OL-Mike Markuson QB- D. Craig WR - Charlie Bassett or Dawsey from fsu...defense DC-Ellis Johnson DL-T. Rocker DB-Harbison (Clemson) ok now LB- Rodney Garner who I would also make recruiting coordinator if not him for LB coach than maybe a couple of x turds Kevin Steele or sal sunseri all of these coach's are great recruiters as well as great coach's JMO WDE

It's a safe bet none of those coaches will be hired.
Gus is his own de facto OC - he's certainly not going to dole out what it would take to get Morris when Gus taught him his offense. Gus's "OC" will not call plays - Gus will.

IMO, Gus will be driving the Gus Bus down the field while CEJ cranks the Evil Ellis Machine.
WDE, we asked for fast action for a new staff and we got it.
Only problem I see so far is it's going to be a loooooooooooog time before we get to see it on the field. I can wait cause the've got a lot of hard work to do tuning up the engines.

You know - we have never had an Offense oriented head coach at AU except for tater tot. It'll be interesting to see the change in dynamics and approach to the overall game planning. I'm excited!

If Johnson is a Citadel grad he most likely has a "blood and guts" mentality and a fetish for order and doing things right. I sure hope so. Right now the Auburn football team needs their asses kicked until spring training, and then they need to go through a Pat Dye spring training. WDE
