John Pawlowski Frustration Meter

  • I've seen a lot of chatter on twitter and other places about people wanting JP to get fired. I personally don't think it should, or will, happen. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being "not at all" and 10 being "fire him now," what is your level of frustration with JP. I put it at a 5 for me.

The lack of fundamentals is alarming, but I do like what he's done with our pitching staff. Offensively, he understands the long ball isn't a part of the college game anymore and he's recruiting to build speed. If he can bring in some of the studs in this year's class and keep them from going pro, I think he can do some good things for this program. Improvements to player facilities will help too.

    Your thoughts folks?

  • In a coachs 4th year he should be nearly 100% his team. This means no excuses. What leads us to believe that this coach will have us consistently in the top 6 in the SEC next year or any year after? I just don't see it. Proof is in the pudding and the pudding is sittin on the table.

  • I honestly don't follow Auburn baseball much. I know that we aren't getting wins right now but I don't know if we are just getting beat or if we are just playing bad.

How much longer does he have on his contract? If it is a year, I would let it just play out and save the little hit to PR.

TEX no offense, but Auburn can't hit a lick and speed does not win in College baseball. Hitting does. Our hitters don't preform at crunch time and this pitching folds like a deck of cards under the pressure. JP is building towards failure and we are only seeing the early returns. I give it a 10. His exit paperwork should be in his inbox tomorrow AM. It makes me sad that Auburn is a nobody in Baseball. I would offer SCar coach $1million a season today. I promise you Auburn would win a title within 3 years. Coaching matters in baseball when talent is available and Auburn has plenty.

  • I have been to every home game until today. No more! I will not watch walks, hit batsmen, ERRORS, etc. Any more. Please bring in another coach!

  • It is the errors, they destroy a team's confidence in winning. Nothing deflates a pitcher or a defense like an error will. QUIT MAKING STUPID ERRORS!

Can't hit a lick? They are third in the league. South Carolina is eighth. They had 16 hits today. The game has changed. It is completely, entirely different than it was two years ago. Speed and pitching and defense absolutely win. There is no power hitting in college baseball anymore. There are less than half as many home runs hit now as there were before they changed the bats. Fewer doubles and triples, too. I agree that coaching cetainly matters.

Stats are for chumps. 16 hits today helped with the stats but the eight best hitting team just swept the third best hitting team in the league on the road. Our hits come well after the matter has been decided. If I heard it once I heard it a dozen times this season, "Auburn's furious comeback falls short"! It is old. Great college teams take care of business early, SCar is a great team. Auburn does not appear to believe they can win and it shows. When they fall behind early like they seem to have done in this stretch, they seem to relax and hit better. It's physiological and that comes from our leadership.

No offense taken, I asked for thoughts. Hitting and reaching base was assumed, when I meant recruiting to build speed. Obviously recruiting people that can hit is most important offensively, but speed is certainly emphasized more than power now. The lack of clutch hitting is quite old, I certainly agree there.

As far as offering Ray Tanner (USCjr coach) $1 mill to come here, I'd love that. Unfortunately, they have the nicest ballpark in America and are building a dynasty over there. I'm sure they'd match whatever we could offer to keep that going.

I think JP knows what he's doing on the recruiting trail and the pitching has improved from when he got here. I will echo what everyone said about poor fundamentals, its pitiful. Its flat out embarrassing. Now, we're a few clutch hits away from being a completely different ball club, but those hits haven't occurred and so we are where we are. I've got more patience than others, but I understand all the frustration on this board.

  • We suck, maybe JJ will do something about it. What else is there to say?
