    I will not down Jim Brown because he was one of the greatest ever, but I think he is wrong on this one. I know I will get a barrage of downvotes for this, but Trent is anything but average. Maybe there is something I'm missing, but I would ask anyone who disagrees to point out a glaring weakness. He is a strength freak, has good speed, and great vision. Even all the experts say he is the best runningback to come out since Adrian Peterson.

    I think he is twice the back that Mark Ingram is and I think that will show. I don't really get how anyone could really call him average.

  • He's a good back but he was Ingrams backup for 2 yrs and Ingram looked less than average in his rookie year. Richardson has great strength but does not have the break away speed or elusiveness that most great NFL backs have. He is not as fast or elusive as AP, MJD, or Chris Johnson and doesn't have the pass catching ability of a lasean McCoy which is why I think he will be a middle of the pack NFL RB. He was stronger than most of the linebackers he went head to head with in college and that helped him get a lot of extra yardage but that won't be the case next year.

    This makes sense to me. In the NFL, you have to avoid hits. Not sure Trent can do that all that well. I also think that he will be susceptible to injury once the effects of Bama's great "Strength and Conditioning Program" are gone from his system. Just my thoughts.

    Some of the guys you mentioned in this post weren't all that great in college either at the aspects you mentioned. Some need time to develop in the league, some don't. He has the tools, again, it just depends on his transition to the pro game. Could go either way really.

    I agree with you that because of his size that he doesn't have that elusiveness factor, but who knows.

    NOt being biased at all here but Jim Brown is right....Against teh weaker teasm he ran up some pretty stout numbers during his career at bama. But when in big games he was sometimes a non factor..

    His "Heisman Run" came against OLE MISS...

    the biggest issue he will face is that he will not be able to out strength the LBs in the pros and doesnt have the shifty moves to be able to aviod hits. But the BIGGEST factor is durability and longevity. RBs in the leauge are the most punished on the field and I would say he lasts 6yrs in the leauge if he doesnt get some moves. IF you try to be stubborn and run right at the Dline and LBs of the NFL you will have a very short career. But as Jim Brown said...Average. To be honest if Md had been able to keep his nose clean he would have been BY FAR better than TR. Breakaway speed in teh NFl is a thing of the past due to the speed of the DBs they have so really that will keep him from having those highlight reel clear by 10yds runs..

    Dont get me wrong at all TR was a very good college back but projects (in my mind) to be an average RB in the NFL.

    He ran up 89 and 96 against arguably the best defense in the country and 181 against a good Florida D. He also ran for 203 against us , and any time you run for 1600 yards in the SEC it's great numbers. It's not like he is a straight block and can't move at all. He has damn good moves for a guy his size. If he were to play for Auburn you honestly wouldn't be nit picking at stuff like this. He is a great back plain and simple.
