I saw last night that Carl Lawson didn't seem to be too thrilled with the hire and would not comment on his commitment status. You have any news on that situation and have you heard a reaction from Trey Johnson on the hire by chance?

i'm 100% with you in this! With a more experienced offensive line this man can do work! I also see a big fight for starting QB from wallace and perhaps frazier will get a fire lit under him with Malzahn being the HC

This is great! I hope they can keep Lawson on board too. Bryan do you think Ellis as DC would be someone that would excite the defensive recruits?

I loved it last night when Gus said our defense would be multiple and attacking. If we can bring the same tenacity to the D that Gus brings to the O, we will be just fine! I've seen enough Tampa 2 to last me for a while.

All the whee-whiners yesterday can get over it. Most of the comments I saw were along the lines of complaining because they didn't feel like Gus was a big enough name for "bragging rights" at the office water cooler. I've got news for you people... what should matter most to you is that recruits are excited about this hire.

Just remember this... Petrino was not a guaranteed winner in 2003 when Jetgate happened. He was still very much considered an up-and-comer. If people applied the same logic they're using to say Gus isn't the right hire to Petrino back in 2003, it would be no different. Former AU offensive coordinator. Considered a bright offensive mind. Questionable head coach. Little head coaching experience and none of it in the SEC. But don't let facts or logic get in the way of your perception!

I am so glad to hear this, everything I hear about JJ is that he is the real deal at QB and should have all the tools to be a great QB in the Malzahn system - as does Frazier and Wallace - should be a great QB competition next spring.
